Andre.....and his option 12:19 - May 5 with 1098 viewsBluefish

Presumably we will now take whatever money we can get for him before he walks away for just compensation next year?

Fattening him up for sale.

Not that players will go for anything like the sort of prices they would have done previously.

The way things have stalled for him here this season I'm not sure anyone will stump up any kind of cash for him. Such a shame how things are going for him under Lambert.

The fact that Mick rated him so highly but PRP clearly doesn't rate him bodes well for how good he is though

I never saw Andre play at youth level nor have I watched him play internationally and I'm unaware of his metrics so my views are purely based on watching his fleeting performances for Ipswich over the last 5/6 years, but I really haven't seen enough from him to think he's got much of a future here.

Obviously has an eye for a pass but in my opinion he lacks identity as a midfielder.
He isn't defensive or attacking, drifts in and out of games and rarely catches the eye on or off the ball. I can see the clear natural ability he has but that's just not enough unfortunately.

I'm sure he has a future in the game but it's probably not here.

I think his natural position is as a deep lying playmaker, the problem is it's hard to get away with playing that role when you don't have much defensive nous or physicality, which he doesn't. He played that role against Brum in the game he did his cruciate and he looked really good but he had one or two players in next to him who made up for his lack of physicality. Since then he's been used a bit higher up the pitch and he often gets lost for long spells. Playing deeper he gets on the ball more but he's rarely played that role here.

I've always thought he'd be a decent player in a better league. League one and to a lesser extent the championship are physical, energetic leagues where no one gets any time on the ball, which Dozzell struggles with. Would like to see him with better teammates to see if he can achieve his potential.

I survived Ipswich 0-0 Burton

Either sell him now or play him next season - has to be one or the other. ANother wasted year sitting on the bench will be a bad move for everyone

That wouldn't necessarily be an issue if you have a couple of aggressive, all action, ball winning midfielders ahead of him.

It's a bit of a niche role, especially when really over the majority of his time here we've lacked that kind of aforementioned midfielder needed to facilitate him. Downes has emerged recently but really you need two experienced and game smart Flyn Downes in their mid twenties in front of him to enable him to float about in that kind of Regista role between Defence and Midfield.

I think that that is exactly right.

He has the footballing brain to play the killer ball but if his teammates are not on the same wavelength then what is meant to be a killer ball is just a ball going nowhere.

I agree that he would look a better player in a better team because at ITFC currently he is largely ineffective but that in part is because of the quality of the rest of the team.

Not sure it’s down to PL , tbh . Whenever AD has been given his chance in the team he has repeatedly failed to show. The player needs to take responsibility for his own game- others have. How many chances does a player get / need? He lives off his dads name in the game And had failed so far to make that step up . Late developer ( hindered by a bad injury ), perhaps?

Plenty of players with less potential upside have been given more chances than Dozzell. He's not had a run of games this season. The odd game here and there isn't really enough to show what you can do. Bit galling when a has been like Judge, for example, has played 30+ times and produced the thin end of feck all.

Guess we’ll never know regards AD. As you know , the staff see these players day in day out and maybe AD just hasn’t “ shown” in training ( I don’t know ). As for Judge, I wish to god QPR Had taken him off our hands . He’s never done anything in a Blue shirt.

Maybe AD can push on next season ( in whatever format it takes ), but I just feel his heart is not in things ITFC and he sees himself frankly as a PL player (which I’d dispute right now ). I’ve seen nothing to convince me he’ll cope with the physical side of the game / whatever the division .
