About Anglia last night 17:51 - Aug 22 with 3856 viewsPendejo

Visited my father in Ipswich yesterday and caught the coverage of the fixture lists... All East Anglian clubs in Champ and L1 were covered verbally, but only one didn't get a graphic shown on screen, so out of;-
Luton
naaridge
Ipswich
Northampton
Peterborough

Who didn't get a graphic?

Clue they are the most successful East Anglian team.

Never quite understood as to why Northampton and Luton are considered “East Anglia”.

I think it’s because you could pickup Anglia telly as well as their own regions. Obviously this was before smart TVs pickup every single region as what they do now.

When Anglia first started Hull used to be part of the region, early Match of the Weeks include Hull City highlights.

I worked at Anglia 20 years ago and some places could get three different regional ITV channels.

And further to the OP, Anglia News hadn't been About Anglia for a number of years even back then!

Yes Ken Wagstaff scored upwards of 180 goals for Hull and Chris Chilton over 200.
As you said Hull City was often the featured game on Match Of The Week and it was usually one or other or both of them scoring the goals.

Chilton played for Hull 1960-1971 and Wagstaff 1964-1976.
Match Of The Week started in 1962 apparently.

Amazing what you can find on Wiki-did you know that there is ANOTHER author named Philip Ham?

Ken Wagstaff is still a cult figure to Hull fans. Amazing player. He always looked overweight, but had very quick feet and had a Jimmy Greaves-type instinct for goals. If he had played for a London club he would have achieved Peter Osgood/Stan Bowles type status. And would probably have played for England.

It was very confusing to the young GeoffSentence, I thought that Hull was somewhere in East Anglia.

I am honestly not sure whether to believe you or not and looking at Amazon does not help.

I think the best bet is not to believe you but...

Is it really Anglia News now... Shows how much attention I paid to the credits.

All I knew was that it was ITV, haven't lived in Ipswich for 25 years now, and am rarely there midweek.

Usually watch BBC if at home and watching at 6pm, but ITVs Lucrezia Millarini is likely to tempt me away.
