The morning's work is almost done, the midday champers is on ice, and once again we have fooled you all into accepting another lockdown. Mwahaha.

You can join the accelerationist wing of the party. All you have to do is sit back and partake in capitalism's worst excesses until it eventually collapses in on itself.

You've got this, Swanners.

We will still be counting resource use and environmental impact, mate. The cost/benefit analysis will just be a little bit closer to useful without the money smokescreen.

Believe me, it’s not nearly as tiresome as the 4 decade-long anti-socialist agenda that slowly but surely has been tearing the UK apart at the seams.

You should count your lucky stars you’re just having to deal with people’s words. Words that you can ignore at the press of a button.

Good. You two old timers can start by sorting the vinegar stocks out. We can't run out of balsamic during times of international revolution. But make sure Islington is covered first and foremost, yah? Me and Stokie need it.

Not really no. Even if they were better than the Tories, taking the socialism out of the Labour Party and socio-economic policy was arguably the worst step of all.

Blair put the last remaining eggs in a centre-right basket.

But seriously do you equate Blair with socialism? Just how far to the right are you?

Just a little aside here, in case people weren't aware, and you probably were. As I was born in Tooting, I can categorically say, and the non-league followers on this site can confirm, that the black and white scarf Wolfie Smith is wearing is not some comment on how black and white should live together in harmony, but merely the colours of Tooting and Mitcham FC.

Socialism is about making systemic changes. Improving life during a global upswing is great but when those advances are entirely wiped out within the space of a couple of years then you see it as an opportunity wasted.

Brown has at least admitted that they should have done more in their 13 years to address structural imbalances in the economy that maintained regional inequalities. Structural poverty in the UK overlaps that via the regions but also because not enough was done to protect low wage earners.

Blair ultimately was way too much of a trickle-downer or if not he lacked the courage, motivation or the support within New Labour to make lasting change.

This discussion reminded me of this piece I read recently.

It’s a wide-ranging article that tries to explain a particular Anglo-American view of the world including government, the economy and society. And it’s a view that’s increasingly out of step with our neighbors and other more productive and successful economies.

This is the view Blair was entirely wedded to. But we could have done with more of Merkel’s view of the social state. The fact that a German centre-right politician has a better grasp of the beneficial need to balance market capitalism with state socialism than the leader of the UK’s “left-wing” party shows how far we’ve lost our way.

They advise and carry out policy. They don't make the decisions.
