Lambert has dug a hole for himself 10:27 - Nov 27 with 678 viewsGlasgowBlue

With his “we’re hopeless with two up front” comments, hasn’t he?

He either has to stick with the current system, despite the personnel currently available or other teams sussing us out very easily, or he risks being made to look silly by changing the system. He is too single minded and obstinate to do the latter IMO

I don’t understand his comments though. Our decent early form last season was with Jackson and Norwood up front.

I think you're right. It's felt for months like he's just waiting for the sack and the pay off to be honest. He doesn't seem to really care much about the job anymore.

You do get the feeling he knows he has lost the plot , the fans and also the players , so a payoff seems like the best option for everyone .

Those 'We're rubbish with two' comments the other night intimated to me that he's done and wants out.

It is ridiculous.

Kind of nice that Marcus is relatively patient with managers, but this is the only trad Town thing he seems capable of, and it doesn't seem to be from any commitment to tradition but rather from not paying any attention. I've always thought he's not been a bad owner when looking at the whole picture, notwithstanding the obvious calamities we continue to suffer as fans, but that's gone out the window with his contract extension to Lambert, which can be the only rationale for not firing him.

Absurd stuff all round.

The only thing which may save him is if it’s a form of deception - he’s trying to throw Bowyer off the scent by saying we’re rubbish at it and then start with a 4-4-2 tomorrow.

Not sure who we’d play in the middle in that scenario though.

It's been all but confirmed that Evans has instructed Lambert to play 433 and stick with a formation and style.....it feels like Lambert is trying to be deliberately obstinate to get himself sacked

He can't be enjoying this, he doesn't looklike he is

And then claim he was just practising Fergie style mind games.

If what is available, I’d go Bennetts and Lankaster wide. MCGavin in the middle alongside Dobra in the Eric Gates role.

I'm surprised that you're surprised that Lambert said something which can't be reconciled to the available evidence.

Didn't someone say on here that Lambert pretty much thought he was gone after last season so didn't really bother with the club during the lockdown?

Does feel that way tbh and is extremely poor from Evans to allow it to happen.

P.S. It's a staring competition between Lambert and Evans innit. Evans has to blink first and fire him. No way will Lambert walk.
