He has a point that he’s in a unique position of course, but that hasn’t helped for 13 years. I’ve been critical of his decision making for probably close to a decade. But I’ve always thought his heart is in the right place and he would learn from the many mistakes and ultimately do what’s best for us. I was even feeling a little bit sorry for him for how it’s all turning out compared to what he must have hoped for.
Now he just sounds like a petulant tvvat and I’m starting to revise my opinion of him.

To be fair to the guy, he's made what, on paper, should have been decent managerial signings. Keane, Jewell, McCarthy, Lambert - all managers that had got clubs up to the premiership in the past.
I won't mention Hurst. He was a disaster. But all the others nobody could say they were bad punts given their success before Ipswich. |  |

They all had success and failure. Keane had had a public breakdown at Sunderland and was always a bad fit character wise. Jewell had been out of work for 3 years after a disastrous season at Derby. Lambert had several failures after his success at Norwich.
We could argue about that all night, and yes there’s some logic behind some of the punts. He’s got them all wrong though. That’s all that matters. And then been inconsistent in how he dealt with them. Starving Mick of funds when we were challenging but then giving Hurst money? Strange decisions imo. | |

I did.
I totally called Hurst wrong though. I was really pleased to see him arrive.
But Lambert and Jewell are managerial journeymen. Are there any other ex-Premiership managers in the third tier? You have to ask questions of yourself when you were a Premiership manager less than two years ago and now manage a League One club. | |

The hiring of them I can forgive, but the persisting of them while it is patently obvious to anybody with eyesight north of Stevie Wonder that everything is going at best, stale, and at worst tits up, is true negligence. It's either stubborness, stupidity or both.

And this is really how I see it.
I will support any new manager coming in. With the same daft level of anticipation I greet every new season. But when it's clearly going wrong and things need to change, we seem to be determined to take the path of self-destruction rather than the right one.
Evans has done nothing but suck the future out of this club with every move he's made. | |
