Next two games and Harrop etc 19:46 - Jan 16 with 1509 viewsalfie2002

Today wasn’t convincing but we won, to play badly and nab a goal isn’t a bad sign. Next two games are season defining and may well be lambert defining, if we can get four points or even 3 it would be massive, just to bloody beat “big team” in this league would be so uplifting. I think if we can get this Harrop deal concluded this week and chuck him in with Dozzell and Bish/Downes we could be onto something, Harrop has a great long shot and free kick and Preston fans all rate him. Coyb.

I’ll be amazed if we manage even 1 point dr9m the next two games tbh. Loved to be proved wrong, bu5 just not convinced anymore this team has wha5 it takes ( in this poor division).

We’ve seen plenty of times over the last 2 seasons that we can scrape unconvincing wins over teams in the bottom half of the table but struggle against teams nearer the top. Almost as if we’re a mid table team...

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I said before the postponed Pboro away game that we should setup to not lose the game, we can't afford to lose either of these games and slip further away from the top 6.

Can't see us winning either, 2 draws at best - but as usual I expect Lambert to be out-thought by Ferguson and Johnson and we'll lose both.

Unconvincing wins are the normality for us under PL. I don’t think it shows too much really other than we don’t collectively play well most of the time and struggle to impose ourselves when playing the better sides, which will be highlighted again against Peterborough and Sunderland over the next couple of fixtures.

Totally understand where you’re coming from, but I can’t help but think that we’re building Peterborough and Sunderland into something that they’re not. They’re nothing special. For all the concern about next Saturday they are only one point ahead of us.

I may well be being way too optimistic but I reckon that we will win at least one of them.

On what basis? We can't beat top 10 sides and our last convincing performance was months ago now. Sunderland and Peterborough aren't great, but you don't need to be great to beat us.

I'd take 2 draws from these games. In terms of the mood around the club, we've got to stop losing games against anyone that represents a challenger for promotion. Even back in the days of John Duncan, Town could occasionally beat or more often draw with the promotion winning/chasing teams. Nowadays, we're a guaranteed 3 points for leading teams. I will be curious to see how we perform with a strong first team, possibly bulked up with a new signing or two.

Don’t disagree with any of that. May be it’s just blind faith on my part, but we’ll be better for the likes of Downes and Bishop etc getting pitch time yesterday

Lambert's long since been "defined". What's happening now is that he's being given seemingly unlimited and unwarranted opportunities to break that "definition".
