FFS, looks like the deal's off if Evans' statement is to be believed 19:18 - Mar 3 with 1834 viewsThe_Flashing_Smile

Or he's holding out for more money. I wonder if the bit about another interested party that's not been reported is part of that squeeze.

Why on earth is he still carrying this on, after all these years of failure and money down the drain?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Why put out a statement, it was not needed was it?

Shame as it was looking very good for the club based on what we knew.

Ignore him. Although part of me did wonder if he's looking at the reaction because he's considering pulling the plug on it after recent results.

We should all be very clear that while we don't hate you Marcus, we want you to sell. You've been an anchor dragging this club down for 13 years. It hasn't worked. Please sell.

Truly impaired.

perhaps he thinks that the deals which have been mooted aren't credible or would damage the club?

perhaps be believes that cook can get us promoted and he can then expect a financially better exit?

perhaps he was telling the truth and he hasn't seen an approach which is in the long term interest of the club?

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

The interesting thing is Evans said the offer made 2 weeks ago was NOT the one reported in the press.

So I'm probably getting confused, but when he talks about the 10% of small shareholders, surely as a shareholder the buyer has to contact them and advise they intent buying the club?
If I'm not confused have any of these small shareholders been contacted?

It's just a matter of reading what he says very, very carefully.

What he's really saying is that

1. The reporting of the deal a week or two ago wasn't entirely accurate, and therefore isn't what he's been considering;

2. There's some negotiating going on and the ball is in the prospective purchaser's court at this moment. Therefore he can say it isn't currently 'on the table'.

To put it another way, he's not really said anything.

Gordon Brown has halved the value of that deal, with the same ruthlessness that he halved the value of Army pensions.

He's trying to keep control of the reporting, but is too far behind the curve.

Standard business guff.

Lots of content and words but does not actually commit one way or the other.

It's not to be believed because he hasn't specifically denied or confirmed anything.

I'm really concerned with some of our fans' comprehension at this point.

I read it (and started this thread) in the middle of making the dinner last night. Now I've read it properly, without chorizo on my mind, I can see that.

Like a few days ago Paul Cook hadn't been offered a job and we were looking for the right man.....

My guess is that this was strategic so he doesn't look desperate to sell, which might affect the size of his offer/negotiating position.
