What he's really saying is that
1. The reporting of the deal a week or two ago wasn't entirely accurate, and therefore isn't what he's been considering;
2. There's some negotiating going on and the ball is in the prospective purchaser's court at this moment. Therefore he can say it isn't currently 'on the table'.

Like a few days ago Paul Cook hadn't been offered a job and we were looking for the right man.....
My guess is that this was strategic so he doesn't look desperate to sell, which might affect the size of his offer/negotiating position. |  | | |
