Plans for ITFC women's team 10:40 - Jun 10 with 1003 views | Kesgrave_Exile | It was well deserved that the women's team for promoted but it would be interesting what Mark Ashton's vision of the team is going forward. I see Charlton have now adopted a 'One Team' approach and their women's team are going professional. Is this something that Ashton envisages? Also will they look to move the team away from playing in Felixstowe and back to Ipswich whether at an existing stadium or somewhere women's football specific.
Plans for ITFC women's team on 10:51 - Jun 10 with 961 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Sounds like a good ambition, but must be difficult for a League 1 club to achieve. Assuming 20 players who would need to earn a good wage to give up their existing careers. At an 'all in' cost of say £50k per player (inc NI, pension etc), you would be looking at wages alone of £1m. Semi pro may work in the shorter term?

Plans for ITFC women's team on 11:27 - Jun 10 with 917 views | itfcjoe | I can't see going professional any time soon, and with regards to grounds - it is a really good setup at Felixstowe so doubt any thing changes in regard to that either. I think they now train at main training ground, and hopefully will be more synergies

If they could attract 3-5k in attendances at Portman Road, you'd then be able to go semi-pro possibly pro with good sponsorship deals. 20-25k earnings each perhaps? Sound ridiculous compared to mens game...women's football is certainly something going in the right direction, just not sure on the appetite for spectators for income and the TV revenue isn't worth it and there's no PL 'promised land' to speculate for like in the mens game. Would be nice to see us get a high profile women's team though.

Third tier is the top end of amateur, so, if we get promoted, we'd pretty much have to go at least part-time pro. There are some f/t pro teams in the second tier. That would be a huge change in terms of funding. Even next season is a big step up, with our 'regionalised' games now taking us all over the South of the country, so a huge hike in travel costs and quite possibly some overnights (I wouldn't expect them to play a 2pm ko after a 7-hour drive). Felixstowe looks set to be home for a while yet, but I wouldn't rule out a ground in or nearer Ipswich if we go up. Ground-sharing at Portman Road isn't an option at the moment. But Felixstowe look after us well. Just struck me, a new pitch at PR might be robust enough to take the extra games...

Today Ipswich sign their first professional women's player. I statement of intent from the club and sign of real progression.
