Who was it talking about trying to avoid the score? 08:47 - Jun 30 with 810 viewsCoastalblue

What did you do in the end? How did it go?

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

I contributed to that thread but didn't mention then that I had a decision to make about watching the game or going kayaking. In the end I watched the first half...nervy, and then set off for the beach. One advantage of kayaking in Scotland was that no one talked about the game at all, another curious thing was that on the evening of the Scotland game last week the kayak session got moved to the following day due to adverse weather but yesterday evening the conditions were a little more windy and yet no postponement...

Anyway, headed for home and has Radio Three on all the way so not much chance of hearing the score. Gone eleven by the time I had the opportunity to fire up the Chromebook, successfully blotted out the result with the tactic I had suggested in the aforementioned thread i.e.held my hand just above all of the screen apart from the bit where I knew I would find 'iPlayer' to click on. Selected 'TV guide' and was delighted to see that the game was now available. Settled down and watched a much more enjoyable second half - probably even more enjoyable for the kayaking break and the serendipity of being able to avoid the score and see the second half almost as if it was happening there and then.

'That was great' I thought and wondered about watching the Sweden v Ukraine game this morning...
SPOILER ALERT
Switched on the Chromebook this morning and logged onto the BBC without bothering to mask the homepage, 'It's going to be all about England' I thought and didn't expect to see a mention of the other game. And there wasn't, just the news item 'England face Ukraine in quarter-finals', oh búgger.

As the games are on at 2am and 5am here in Australia I have been regularly doing news blackouts during the day to watch games 'live' in the evening, although I have been getting up early for some.

The biggest problem I have is staying off here with so much going on at Town and the addiction of it being the only real social media I do. Anyway, I so needed my dose of TWTD the other day I decided to just switch to the 'General' Section. Sure enough, there it was, a football post about a game in the wrong section giving away important info. What was worse was that this particular poster got very uppity when pulled up on it (by someone else) and basically said they would carry on posting football posts in the General and if anyone didn't like it there was the 'ignore' button.

Such a shame as I always said to myself I would never ever put anyone on ignore. It was the first time ever ....

It must be difficult for him to keep up with the times, what with being about 200 years old.

Result, no longer an issue - my Saturday evening commitment has been brought forward to the afternoon so not to clash with the England game.
