The EU have finally got round to implementing tougher laws on money laundering. They came into effect on 3rd December 2020. All regulated entities operating in the EU had to be compliant by 3rd June 2021.
I wonder what some people were very keen to "Get Done" between those dates?

There must be tens of thousands of unemployed red wall brexiteers glad that their offshore tax 'wheezes' have escaped the 'woke' EU's check.
Though there are many UK fishermen who are no longer offshore, they are tied up unable to fish or sell what they do catch.
But that's a small price to pay for knowing your 'betters' aren't troubled by the same tax laws as ordinary folk.
You can see why the wealthy (Putin ?) funded the Leave campaign, and used willing politicians to peddle lies to the thick to delude them that it was in their interest also.

Just reading through some of it, amazing how much foreign money is being used in secret to invest in the UK property market.
I’ve not seen this programme, but London has long been a money laundering and fundamentally corrupt capital. It doesn’t seem like there’s much appetite to change it (not surprising given the amounts involved and political backing some of these people have).

Made me smile that there’s headlines about a religious fundamentalist war criminal being a tax avoider.
Do you realize that virtually every jurisdiction in the world, including virtually all the so-called tax havens have signed up to CRS (common reporting standards) which means that every bank account has to be reported to the tax authority of the country of residence of the account holder. What is more ,for accounts held in company names the ultimate beneficial owner has to be similarly reported. This does eliminate most of this kind of abuse in most jurisdictions. This ,of course, cannot guarantee high levels of corruption from people wielding great political power can circumvent these processes.

Fair play to Banksy, he's been all about protecting not only his investments, but tithe investments of other billionaires from the off with his resolute 'leave' stance.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
