Be interesting to see where he goes if indeed he does go into management.

Young fresh manager people say... on 00:32 - Dec 3 with 1524 views | Churchman | Why Carrick? What potential? Because he was a good player? It’s no guarantee he could manage his way out of his own bathroom. If Bobby Moore, Charlton, Ossie Ardiles were useless and Mourinho and Alex Ferguson were great, maybe that says there’s more to it than a name and a miserable face. KD suggested in his interview there was far more than he knew when he worked with Cook for a bit and he’s been in professional football what, 25 years?

He's being discussed after leaving utd this evening and talks of him potentially starting off his managerial career somewhere. Of course doesn't mean anything and in no way has been linked with us either. You'd think sometimes these coaches start out in league 2 first. But we've seen many of them go straight in at various levels and not necessarily starting at the bottom as you'd think they would.

Let’s pack PR with 28k fans to see us at the peak of our decline or if it’s a good day maybe we’ll break through into the top half of the division bastard three.

Yes. Although in those 4 months he's played almost every team, amassed more points than us with an inferior squad and budget, and won a manager of the month award. I'd sign him in a heartbeat over Cook.

The Cook who’s won league 1 and 2 and did well in the championship until Wigan went bust ? And a manager with 19 games experience in total in uk. We are going full time foil hat here.

Hey, this comes across as very small-minded, and there's absolutely no need for the type of tone in your post. Some people are clamouring for the likes of Liam Manning, but guess what? No one would've mentioned him before MK Dons took a chance. Would you rather go for a guy whose only management experience is a Belgian B Team or a Man Utd first team coach? I would love Town to take a chance on their next manager, really spend a long time identifying the next Liam Manning, not the current one. But posts like yours show how small-minded and risk averse our fan base are, and how much resistance there might be

He’s had success but he’s failing here. Lambert had success but failed here, Jewell and Keane had success in the past but failed here. Sometimes things don’t work out. It’s not working out with Cook - get rid of him

I don’t think you can compare the sustained success Cook has has with Lambert, Jewell and Keane’s limited efforts and subsequent failures. While nobody can say Cook hasn’t been poor here, he is doing his best, been a manager for a long time and knows the game. We are where we are. With a calmer hat on and looking objectively is four months enough, given the change at the club, new structures, people coming in etc? Ok it’s a results business, but with all that’s happened to the club, maybe a measured approach is preferable - at least until a successor that fits what they want to do is identified. I think we need to lose more deadwood and bring in at least a full back or two. Given the team is not fully formed, we give the January transfer window to Cook? Unless we are down the bottom after Christmas, I think I would. If I was Ashton / O’Leary, I’d want a detailed analysis of what’s gone wrong, what’s needed to improve it and some idea of when. I know everyone likes the excitement and promise of a new manager but maybe a little patience and evolution of the team is better than tearing everything up and starting again. Obviously if we get a humping at Charlton on Tuesday (probable) I’ll be breaking out the posse again.

MK Dons have been on the up for a while. He inherited a team with momentum. You'd have to pretty inept not to win your first few games.

I think personally taking on a championship club on a low championship budget Is incredibly different to taking on a league 1 side with the best resources available. Hurst was awful with who he brought in. But it was a wrong choice by Evans to start with. But league 1... no reason why it couldn't be a starting place for a coach going into management.

Liam Manning would be a brilliant choice as a head coach with the right set-up around him - that's got to be the sort of system we're heading towards, putting in place a proper structure and coaching set-up rather than a bunch of the manager's mates.

Whilst I agree with your second point, I don't think we should shy away from young fresh managers forever more just because Hurst failed.
