its ok I played Cricket 22 earlier on the PS4, Australia scored 457 runs in the first innings (simulated as bowling accurately is a complete nightmare), and I scored a flashing 116 all out in reply, mainly in 4s and 6s as I couldnt work out when the ball was far enough away to commit to a run properly and hey if theres a gap in the field and you time slogging it, well it goes all the way, Aus did force the follow on unfortunately, which Lord Gower & Athers opined was a surprise as the bowlers wanted a rest apparently...not sure they were watching the same game I was playing... for most of it actually.
Root scored a nice 50 though so Im confident we'll be just fine in the real thing :) | | | |

StickCricket used to be fun on a browser about 15 years back
and yeah its a tricky game to get right with the controls, much harder than Fifa, the bowling theyve got you controlling line, length, the type of ball, and you have to do that arcade classic style thing of hitting the buttons to time the delivery release properly, plus theyve added an "aftertouch" and you can easily just kept bowling wides or no balls all the time. the batting is easier, you just point the stick in the direction you want to hit and time the slog. I havent worked out where the DRS review button is, and no real hawkeye in this one.
Brian Laras Cricket was probably the best of the bunch a while back, but these games always turn into T20 slogathons. The company that make this one are Australian so its a bit almost last gen console in style still, and full of quirkyness, but its good fun to play during the ashes and then to sit on a shelf gathering dust for ever more. | | | |
