Funny, Yesterday I stumbled across the video of him getting surprised by his old school teacher, who he thought was dead. Such a powerful thing to see. Wrighty seems like genuinely decent man.

Yeah he does; a really nice guy. Yet the amount of racist abuse he gets on social media is off the charts. I can’t get my head around why people would do that.

I remember reading an interview with him where he said that the Match of the Day theme music makes him cry to this day, because it reminds him of when his abusive stepfather would make I W stand facing the wall whilst his step father watched the show.
The Mr Pigden video is one of the most emotional moments you could ever see.

Years ago a work colleague was good friends with Ian Wright and had been for some years. We had some charity event going on. Ian, who was playing for Arsenal then, couldn’t have been more generous.
He was a great footballer and is a really good pundit. More important than any of that is that he is a top bloke.

I think it's because his human decency blows their minds.
He makes them realise the contradictions inherent in their prejudices and their only possible reaction is to double down and abuse him for his genetics.
