The Police will not investigate 20th May party unless Sue Gray finds evidence 19:40 - Jan 13 with 856 viewsElderGrizzly

Errrr, isn’t that literally their job to do that? Not rely on a poor bloody civil servant to do their job for them?

Only crimes that are currently being committed can be investigated. Anything else is clearly out of their remit.

If the government is absolved of this, will they return the fines the other lockdown breachers had to pay or not?

You of all people should realise that The Met know exactly what is happening in No 10 at all times.

“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.” Boris Johnson canvassing in Henley, 2005.

The pressure being piled on to Sue Gray is getting insane. Not only have Johnson and the cabinet essentially implied that his future as PM is resting on the outcome of her inquiry but now the police are saying that any criminal investigation is also dependent on her inquiry. That's really unfair, and in respect of the police it's totally arse about face, often inquiries can't happen - or are at least very limited in their scope - until police and criminal investigation and potential prosecutions have been concluded.

Looks like it will turn into a whitewash.

Boris will limp on until the right moment to jettison him - which may be soon or maybe not.

Hmmmm, makes future police dramas a bit dull, no disrespect meant to yourself of course, but who could possibly enjoy a drama, cutting between Juliet Bravo twiddling her thumbs whilst waiting for an internal memo and a civil servant drafting said memo,…..
