I thought he was going to be a good player for us when we signed him. How I was wrong.

What has actually wrong in the end? I know he said homesick but then didn't move back to Australia?

Strange one, signed a 3 year deal, left after 1 season.

He went to Australia, but then ended up in Cyprus for a year, then back to OZ again where he stayed

That's what I thought, but Wikipedia shows that his next club after us was Brisbane Roar.

Maybe there were suggestions that he was going back to the Netherlands, and that particular move never came to fruition?

Ah Ok. I stand corrected. Yes maybe it was just rumours at the time! TO be fair, good of him to admit it rather than staying and not being happy (which I would expect ultimately means he wouldn't play well)

5 years without a goal for a midfielder is not great is it? haha

I think people started having a pop when he went to APOEL Nicosia after leaving the Roar. Think homesick was him putting a spin on things, from other comments he made I don't think he really settled and didn't get on with the style of football. Part of a poor summer's business in 2015, which meant we never really built on the play-off season.

He hated MickBall.

As for the goal, there was an even better one scored later on.

I'm still baffled that we got rid of Paul Anderson after a successful season. Very little about the summer after the play off season makes sense.

I’d say our summers business in 2015 was actually strong comparatively to other windows.

Retained Didz, although sold Mings - everyone thought it was good business at the time.
Recruited Fraser on loan from Bournemouth who’d been great there. Signed Douglas and Pittman from promotion rivals Brentford and signed Jonas Knudsen, then a Danish international.

We still only finished just outside the playoffs and that was largely due to injuries to Didz, Fraser and co. and with Murphy not getting the same service he did from Mings and Anderson I think the season went well for the level of investment.

The “best window ever “ in 2018 where we exchanged a Championship side for a League One side was widely celebrated here and in the EADT though, as was this summers car crash of a window.

I dont remember many celebrating when we lost the likes of Waghorn etc, most were incredibly concerned that we had brought in league 1/2 replacements.

The January 2016 window was almost as damaging as the previous one. We let go of Tommy Oar and Jonathan Parr, probably the best players outside our first choice XI and never fully replaced them. Had we kept hold of them and had Fraser not got injured, we may have snuck into 6th.

There were quite a few praising Hurst's business. I can remember a comment saying something like "How can Hurst attract players like this and Mick couldnt." I never forgot that comment. Would be an interesting read if that thread came back. Kind of like watching a horror film you have seen before.

Jonas was probably the best signing. Pitman was a bit hit and miss. But people like Oar, Parr, Malaczyk, Douglas, Coke, Toure and Bajner were all failures.

Parr was signed in 2014 wasn't he? Not sure I'd class him as a failure either, he did well when he played but Mings was having a good year so he didn't get many opportunities. He probably should have played more in Autumn 2015 as Knudsen was really shaky to begin with, although Mick took the long-term view and persisted, which in hindsight was probably the right one.

Has Ainsley Maitland-Niles's mum put an embargo on him being mentioned in relation to the summer of 2015 inward transfer business of Town?

My mistake, thought he was very disappointing, which was probably why I put him alongside the 2015 summer additions!

Sorry, forgot him and Fraser. Even with those two - and AMN ran out of steam about halfway through if I remember rightly - I think the overall summer business was very poor.
