The issue here is the separatist regions are already not in Ukraine hands, but Russia are already saying that their "recognition" relates to the whole of those regions, rather than the third or so which are currently separatist. That will clearly constitute an invasion. So we will block some bank accounts and be done with it.

Ideally, but then with the close ties and connections certain characters have in our Govt have with the Ruskies, I wouldn't believe anything we're told about sanctions. It'd be very easy for them to say one thing but to also have agreements in place behind the scenes, just to make a show of it. | |

Hence, I think, there is an element of Putin going for invasion now or having to leave it a year.

The generation technology is almost there but the political will and investment is not
We have had plenty of time to work on this, but our "Leaders" have been too busy lining the pockets of the super-rich through QE and dodgy contracts
I suggest a 3 stage plan;
Massive programme of insulation
Massive push on energy efficiency
Big push on green generation to include hydrogen manufacture from turbines

The two regions he has deployed troops into are mostly Russian speaking and hold Russian passports. Those that are left anyway.
They have been fighting there for the last 10 odd years so maybe this will put a stop to that and I do not believe that a full scale invasion of Ukraine is even remotely likely.
Do we know if the population of those areas are mostly pro Russian or pro Ukraine? |  | | |
