I guess there’s nothing to stop you not taking up the option and coming in with a lower offer. In the current circumstances I’d suggest any fee agreed in the loan is probably less favourable now. Would not surprise me if you could get him for no fee at all. |  | | |

To me it seems because we haven't rushed to sign him Pearson is taking that as a sign we aren't taking the option up. Could be however imo we are waiting to see if anything comes of the Morsy Wigan link before decide if we need another CM alongside Ball. |  |

An option is the option to buy at an agreed price. We may have agreed to £500k and have the option until the end of June.
If we let it expire we could then offer a lower amount.
I doubt it's what we're doing but it could be. |  |

I mean, if all 3 are available for selection, I'd make you right... Morsy and Ball both love a yellow card. And Evans could still be an injury worry, imo... I wouldn't mind if we got Bakinson back on loan for the season. Just for a bit more squad depth and legs off the bench.... With 5 subs this season. Squad depth and strong bench, will be more important than ever, imo... That was cruel last season, with both Morsy and Evans sidelined. We looked weak in the middle. Cost us...Way I see it. Ball is an upgrade replacement on Carol, who's left. So we haven't gained an extra body in the MF. And with Bakinson gone, we are actually one down, especially if El Miz gets loaned out.(Although, personally, think Miz will look better alongside Morsy or Ball, instead of Carol or Bakinson, when he played last season).. I agree that unless El Miz, Harper or Humphries show they are good enough in the next few weeks we will need someone better in addition to Ball, Morsy and Evans. I thought Bakinson did well in covering for both Evans and Morsy, and our inability to score wasn't down to him. Indeed, he chipped in with a couple of goals himself, and so ended up with a better goalscoring ratio than any of our other midfielders. So I would be happy if we signed him. |  | | |

He isn't good in the air for his size and there's definitely something missing on the defensive side I think. I liked him too though - he and Morsy were excellent together a couple of times I thought, in particular in the last game. | | | |

I think El Mizouni will definitely go out on loan, there's a fair bit of interest. But you might be right. Humphreys also comes into it, of course. I've heard from several sources, including Sone Aluko post-match on Saturday, that he's doing very well so far in pre-season. | | | |

I tend to agree. If all of them are out then it's time to blood one of the youngsters. If we don;t there really is no pathway for them.
I also wonder about Pearson's reputed quote. Did he say we haven't taken up the option or we're not going to take up the option? There's a difference between the two isn't there. |  |
