BBC top earners 12:47 - Jul 12 with 1508 views | nodge_blue | Im amazed that Zoe Ball is the second top earner with nearly a million a year. Who really thinks she's that good? But then theres Steve Wright in third at nearly half a million!!! Steve (pensioner asleep in the afternoon) Wright. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/62122985 And is Vanessa Feltz even still on air? I know. I'd take any TWTD poster presenting for £50000 than her.

BBC top earners on 12:56 - Jul 12 with 1432 views | J2BLUE | Nothing against Lineker but if they are supposed to be getting value for the taxpayer there are many other articulate presenters with a background in football who could save £1m a year. As for Shearer, what the hell? His analysis is not worth anywhere near that. You could understand if it he broke it all down like Neville/Carragher but he's awful. I don't resent paying the licence fee. I think the BBC is a bargain but they really are not helping themselves here.

I do think Lineker is good. And probably could have earnt at least that at Sky over the years. Though when you consider he's only on once a week for three quarters of the year....and he worked for BT at the same time....hes on a cushy number.

Tbf she does probably have to get up at 2am everyday for a 4am start haha. Although these radio presenters seem to get weeks and weeks of holiday entitlement!

BBC top earners on 13:20 - Jul 12 with 1265 views | Swansea_Blue | Not that I want to see a race to the bottom for anyone, but Zoe Ball's wages do seem a tad on the high side for the industry- https://www.payscale.com/research/UK/Job=Radio_Show_Host/Salary I've always thought of her as very much on the B list of BBC presenters, but I suppose the salary comes with the gigg whoever gets it.

BBC top earners on 13:57 - Jul 12 with 1138 views | meekreech | With the money being paid for a lot of second grade “ presenters “ the BBC could easily keep their hands off the pensioners. They had made a commitment for pensioners above the age of 75 to get free licenses but have reneged on this to continue wasting money on “B “ , “ C “ and” D “ level presenters and celebrities. What makes things worse is that pensioners are being chased through the courts for non payment. It also makes no sense to plead shortage of funds when the staff are being granted a pay rise of 5% now and another increase later this year. If this can be affordable the free licenses for over 75’s can be maintained.

You do realise that the free over 75's licenses were Government funded don't you? This funding was withdrawn by the conservatives in a cost cutting move. Government cuts are not controlled by the BBC and just expecting the BBC to find £75 million PA to cover a heartless government cut is not really very fair.
BBC top earners on 15:59 - Jul 12 with 967 views | ElephantintheRoom | Bear in mind that they have fiddled the figures and a lot of these ‘stars’ get paid by the production companies they freelance for - so you’ll be paying them a lot more than that

They have fiddled the figures because last year Zoe ball had received a pay rise of £1 million. That figure was made public at the time when other salaries were being reviewed. Just to clarify the point regarding the free licenses, the government had funded them but the BBC had to commit to fund the free licenses as part of the funding settlement. It would appear that anyone connected to the BBC can be found a financial improvement where the company has no money to pay for their commitment.
