What's the general consensus on this?

A pretty standard decision in parks across the country.

I did quite enjoy the game in the field behind the stand yesterday, was good entertainment whilst we were waiting for corners to be taken - looked like a penalty at one point but it wasn't given.

Poor officiating from a volunteer (possibly doesn't understand the laws) which should be overruled by the ref and totally unacceptable behaviour on the touchline.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

They will understand the rules.

Probably a sub or assistant manager from the defending team. Used to come across a p1ss take lino like this every few weeks back when I played Sunday football - just stick the flag up every time the ball was played forward.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

This brings back memories... being flagged offside every time by auto-karate-chop arm up opposition linesmen, despite giving defenders a 3 yard head start just to be on the safe side.

You almost have to admire the balls on that lino. Had a sheeite ref today in my son’s game. Tied 0-0, away game, a draw is enough for the home team to move on to the championship game, we have to win. Ten minutes from the end we’re on a quick breakaway, 3 on 2, surging towards their penalty area. Ref suddenly blows his whistle. WTF? One of the home team’s players is down holding his leg. Sitting up, not crying, not in obvious distress, and 30 yards behind the play. Scandalous decision. Of course, the kid makes a miraculous recovery. And to improve my mood we go on to lose 1-0, giving up a last minute goal as we chased the game. Football, bloody hell

I've always thought that parents on the touchline are a nightmare but in cases like that I wouldn't blame someone for speaking up.

I take it the area isn't one for high rates of gun ownership.

It is generally true that the parents are the absolute worst. In this case the other team’s coach was quite the a-hole. I chatted to him pre game as I detected a British accent. Turns out he’s a Sheff Weds fans and then had a dig at Ipswich saying he could never live down South. All good bantz. Then the game started and he was a whiny bitch, yapping at the ref all game long. Just found out they lost 3-0 in the championship game. Needless to say, I had the last laugh.

Earlier this season we had a shocking ref, not as bad as our parent who decided to try and start a fight with him though.
