Yes he runs across the player between him and the ball but he is then shoved over. Would it have been a penalty if it had been the other way around?

If a striker does the same, does the ref give a penalty?

You are allowed to put your body between a player and the ball. If the player then shoves you over it is a foul.

But it’s the risk you take, they aren’t always given. Chaplin should’ve just stood his ground and been stronger, instead of throwing himself to the floor.
