15 Seconds…. 17:32 - Oct 31 with 1821 views | Matt_Netherlands | That’s how long we played for after kick off from their 4th goal went in. The ball was out of play for 1 minute 15 seconds after they scored. So surely by logic, there should have been another minute added on, with us on the front foot and an attacking throw in? I know I need to let it go, but it doesn’t sit right. The added time is decided before anything happens in stoppage time. So surely any stoppages, need the corresponding amount of time added on?

15 Seconds…. on 17:43 - Oct 31 with 1728 views | LegendofthePhoenix | The problem was that our players got caught up in the emotion of going 4-2 up. Ball jumped on Morsy's back. Two of our most experienced players, and instead of remaining calm and professional, they got caught up with the euphoria of being in front of 3,100 fans with limbs everywhere, and lost concentration. If we had not got the 4th, they wouldn't have got so carried away and it probably ends 2-3. They will learn from this.

So…. From goal celebrations alone, the ball was out of play during stoppage time for 305 seconds (just over 5 minutes). So, we should have played until at least 101 minutes…. Full time was blown at 99.49. Although who am I kidding, if we played that king we would have probably lost 5-4!

I've said for ages now. If VAR is going to be a thing, and we're going to give offside by a gnats ballsack. Then we are going to need an official timekeeper.

So the arguement has moved on from there being too much injury time played now to too little was played ?

You’d bet your bottom dollar it has. Makes sense though right? Time gets added on for our goals which allows them time to score two more, but not more time is seemingly added on from their 4th goal?

Sky Sports amongst others have started including “Ball in play time” with some of their post-game stats, so I think it will get more and more focus. I can’t find the article, but there was a premier league game recently where In one half, the ball was only actually in play for something like 25 minutes! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Agreed. Unless of course it’s a sign that ‘The Banter Era’ has never actually ended……………..

I am. The ref didn’t add the time on for their 4th goal. Now, the only real issue is that he doesn’t have to, as it’s at his discretion. I’m not especially worried about it, as it is what it is. But in terms of stimulating a discussion, I can see the benefits of a ball in play model playing shorter halves and stopping the clock for stoppages. There are also potential problems with that, because if there are more stoppages than normal the games could last for ages. [Post edited 31 Oct 2022 18:20]

You don't stop the watch when the ball crosses the line for a goal, in the same way you don't stop the watch every time the ball goes out of play. It used to be 30 seconds per goal but all at the referees discretion. So with the substitution he should have played 98.5 mins but another directive is that you don't blow until an attack has finished.

Nope, not having it. This is a bright new era with a fantastic manager and owners putting significant time and money into the club. * checks fixtures towards end of season to see which former players of ours could score against us and stop us going up automatically, because banter *

15 Seconds…. on 19:52 - Oct 31 with 1245 views | HighgateBlue | More time for a Charlton fifth? They had their tails up and the crowd behind them. We didn't get the three points because WE let four goals in. I'm not sure blaming the ref is a good look, and we have no divine right to win just cos we're Town. Must defend better next time we're ahead. We'll have a chance to prove we can, very soon...

It was weird really. As soon as I saw it had gone 3-4. I knew what was coming next. I think had we scored in say 72nd minute and then the 85th we would have been fine.

I was actually fearful at that point we may concede again. Can you imagine 2-4 to 5-4 in extra time
