Chaplin has always been streaky but was it you on the unpopular opions thread that pointed out his poor passing? He's still not a creator for me. If only there was a position between 9 and 10 where he could score loads of goals but not have to get smashed by 6'3" centre backs or pass the ball to anyone else.

After KOA reminded me of harness' cameo at charlton on 09:10 - Nov 2 with 1331 views | hype313 | Harness can turn a player brilliantly, he always looks to go forward too which is a huge positive. But his first touch, it really lets him down, I get that sometimes the ball is pinged to him at some pace, but professional players should find trapping or controlling a ball a basic, yet with him invariably it goes away from him 2-3 yards which in turn gifts the opposition possession. With Harness, we all knew what to expect, on his day he can be lethal, but consistency has been his achilles heel throughout his career. Chappers's form has dropped off a cliff, luckily we have others in that position who can take up the slack, but Chaplin is such a talented player, won't be long before he is out of this current funk.

Even when he was scoring goals I wasn't particularly impressed with his possession work as he just doesn't take as much care of the ball as the other forward players, typified by Saturday when instead of just putting his foot on the ball and playing a simple pass he tries some stepover move and gives it away and they break to score. Edwards works very hard as well so am not too worried about that side of things, plus his pace and dribbling ability allows him to run the ball out of trouble and get us up the pitch in a way no-one else can really do.

Quite impressive to get two ‘pre-assists’ to his name on Saturday to be fair!!! (Haters will say it was for the wrong team)
After KOA reminded me of harness' cameo at charlton on 10:56 - Nov 2 with 1124 views | Garv | Arguably we're asking two strikers (Harness and Chaplin) to play a no.10 role. Maybe Harness is more of a winger traditionally, I don't know, but he's not a natural no.10. [Post edited 2 Nov 2022 11:46]

Harness should start, he’s more effective than JJ and Chaplin this season on 11:00 - Nov 2 with 1090 views | unstableblue |

… in terms of getting the ball to people in dangerous areas quickly Harness is a good player and we need him playing and in form

After KOA reminded me of harness' cameo at charlton on 12:15 - Nov 2 with 1000 views | BigCommon | Don't think there is a pecking order for the front 3 positions... They are continually changed and rotated, to suit whatever KM deems required, per game. We are definitely missing a little something in that area though, imo. I think , partly down to how oppo' are playing us over the last half dozen games. Pressing us harder , denying space and time on the ball. Leading to our misplaced passes and rather scrappy periods of play. We haven't been able to freshen up the two AM positions as much as KM would have liked to , imo, in the absence of Aluko and Camara, which hasn't helped. I don't know what to make of Edwards, as a starter, tbh. He's great going forwards and has the ability to wriggle around tight markers, and he looks to have decent playing relationships with Ladapo and Davis .But, I feel he lacks a bit in chasing pressing and winning the ball back. He's the archetypical flair player, for me. Almost a luxury type player? As we've seen with Cellina, these type of players are often unplayable and often invisible, with not much in between. I get the feeling that the 100% trust level, isn't quite there from KM , with Edwards. The 10 yard air shot on Saturday, won't have done much to improve that. It was a pretty good chance that went begging. One of, quite a few, sliding doors moments in that game. If he buries that one, then I'd say he was high on confidence and form and was a shoe in for a start. But here's the thing. Nothing needs drastically changing imo. We are not on a losing streak. We are not playing badly. And the one thing that Edwards would bring to the table, is attacking flair and creating chances/goals , which we are not in short supply of either.. (7goals in 2 games). I like Edwards, for entertainment value. He's got some crazy skills. But unless we can move the ball a bit quick as a team, And feed our 10's that bit quicker, with decent runners as instant link up options, up with them. I'm not sure whether Edwards would fair any better than Harness or Chaplin , atm. Who look to be getting smothered a bit in possession. Harness and Chaplin are both proven match winners. Dip in form happens to the best. I'm not changing it for now. "But", they both need to up it. We are 3pts clear of 3rd place. There's no need to change much. Edwards is the better impact sub, imo.
