You get inconsistent decision making

Which is why VAR goes. It was brought in to stop inconsistencies...it hasn't - just leave it to the officials and get on with it.

If they were consistent with that decision there would be several pentalties in every game.

Which I have no issue with whatsoever - that would then stop all the pulling, pushing, holding etc in the box.

But it has to be consistent. Otherwise, what is the point?

You'll get inconsistent decisions for as long as the rules require the referee's discretion. That's the real reason and not the system. The VAR can only do so much and is still subject to the discretionary aspect.

Where the decision can only be black or white, technology works a treat (e.g. goal line tech).

So, no need for VAR then.

The biggest issue for me is the opaqueness of it, you don't know what they're checking and I barely feel I can celebrate the goal until the other team kick off again. I'd prefer it to be much more like cricket or NFL where the manager or captain call for VAR, and with clear stadium announcements of the process.

The game is great and memorable because of its imperfections, the sooner we get back to that, the better.

That sounds fecking horrible. It would make it even more of a circus than it is already is. It's football, not theatre. And it's not Cricket either.

I'd argue there is, as not all decisions are subjective. Letting the ref have a look at the replay is also helpful I'd have thought. We had some bad penalty calls earlier in the season that would very likely have been overturned by VAR, for example.

Today my issue other than having VAR in the first place is that some unaccountable person decided to check something then gave the ref a decision to make on one occasion but for an unknown reason decided not to give the ref a decision for a worse holding earlier in the game. They’ve swapped inconsistent refereeing for inconsistent unknown VAR checkers giving refs new decisions to make after they have decided not to make the decision! It’s bonkers.

VAR is an abomination and should be abolished.
