There's never any end date either, at least when they took the tunnel out at Ipswich it was a defined project for six weeks or so. Fking Newbury fking Park on a Saturday evening.

I remember travelling in 1996 with these weekend closures, and they have continued for 25 years. It's absurd.

When I was around 17 / 18 years old I used to go down to London almost every other Saturday night. A great deal of Sunday trains home were hindered with bus replacements - I'm 56 now and they still haven't made good!!

unlikely :( all the work theyve been doing in the past decade has been just for the Elizabeth line, theres a bunch of track replacement, ohl replacement, resignalling they need to restart thats just pure maintainence to replace stuff thats wearing out. and thats before they want to redo the roof at Liverpool St, plus all the other concourse changes that have been announced. the problem is Network Rail dont suffer the inconveniance from it, either organisationally or financially, so theres no incentive to provide a set of engineering works that doesnt impact passenger service like this well permanently isnt it, its been going on for near 30 years now.
