Blackburn Rovers. 3rd in Championship. 12:43 - Jan 1 with 2007 views | cbower | Average home attendance <15K. It's so frustrating to see a club like that right up there and little enthusiasm amongst the public. Their football isn't especially attractive mind you. I genuinely feel that if we get up, we could compete in the top half straight away. Sunderland are doing it and they were no great shakes last season.

They also can offer big allocations to away fans, so fixtures against Burnley, Preston, Blackpool and even Wigan will boost their crowds. Then you've got Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United taking loads. Very few small clubs the other side of the country either. Average away attendance must be at least 1500. Ipswich would be a big club even in the Championship and in time with continued backing from the owners and good management, the Premier League within two or three seasons is not unrealistic.

Compare that with Leeds which has a population of 750k but has never came close to averaging to 75k per match. Just because a town has a smaller population it doesn’t make it less enthusiastic about its club.
Blackburn Rovers. 3rd in Championship. on 13:32 - Jan 1 with 1742 views | Vic | The optimist in me says look where they were a few years ago - 4 seasons ago they had just been promoted back to the championship. Now they are challenging in the top 6. This must give us cause for hope. If the6 can do then we certa8nly should be able to. A little bit of realism and patience may be required, but we are definately on the up and in 2 or 3 seasons that could well be us. Personally I’d be very happy with that sort of progress.

Spot on Vic. Fingers crossed we go up this year. If that happens, I really hope if there are a couple of seasons of consolidation in mid table that fans stick with it and attendances don't go back to 17-18K. It's a project a d not instant. Like you say, 2-3 years after promotion, start threatening the top 6 would do fine.

Blackburn Rovers. 3rd in Championship. on 16:54 - Jan 1 with 1206 views | ElephantintheRoom | Virtually every club in the Championship think they belong in the Prem And I don’t recall the Portman Road faithful being overly appreciative last time we struggled to keep our heads above water in a far more competitive division

Are Blackburn 'struggling to keep their head above water" in the Championship? I thought 3rd place was doing pretty well myself! If we were third in the Championship going into the new year sometime in the future I would hope we could average a bit more than 46% of our capacity, wouldn't you?

Blackburn Rovers. 3rd in Championship. on 17:18 - Jan 1 with 1145 views | patrickswell | When you consider how close Mogga was to keeping them in the Championship in 16-17, the fact that they bounced back straight away and consolidated over the following seasons - all while still under the ownership of the Venkys, it really does put into focus just how inept our representatives were over 2018 -21. It was just a pay cheque to them and they embraced mediocrity and excuses with far greater passion than they sought survival or promotion. [Post edited 1 Jan 2023 17:19]

Presumably Blackburn supporters think they should have Shearer and Sutton up front - or its a football backwater that hasn’t had much support for 50 years apart from a brief moment of sports washing You can overanalyse the second division any way you like. It’s not long ago that Flynn Downey’s was cast down to Luton because he wasn’t good enough for the second division. Interesting that Coventry are doing Ok though
