Jackson so much better as a wide forward 20:37 - Jan 7 with 1636 views | cbower | Hope the Hirst signing means he is never asked to play centrally up top on his own again from the start. In a two, yes but never alone. Far more effective if we're playing one using him like today. Alternatively, to see a game out for 10-15 minutes with some selfless high pressing he's quite useful too.

He's capable of playing up front but only in a pair, where he can run in behind and tee up a strike partner. He's not suited to play as a lone striker - he's merely nuisance value in that position. As for wing-back - he played in that position earlier in the season (one of our TV games if I recall) - his wing-ing was ok but his back-ing was hopeless (which you would expect). However I can see him fitting well into the RW position if we were to switch to say a 4-3-3 as a plan B, as back-up to Wes, which I don't think would be a bad choice.

Jackson so much better as a wide forward on 21:02 - Jan 7 with 1461 views | homer_123 | Jackson continues to be heavily underrated. He's selfless, hardworking, a genuine team player and can play several positions. He's a very good squad player for us.

He had a very good game today. The opening goal was largely down to him. He won the ball back, played a lovely pass and move combination with Ladapo and knocked in a nice cross* *Humphreys gets a little credit too.

Interestingly, Alex Matthie thinks the lone striker role is a very difficult one anyway. From what he says, he wouldn't have liked playing as one.

Jackson so much better as a wide forward on 23:13 - Jan 7 with 1030 views | Vaughan8 | Definitely isn't good as a central striker. If we're being honest, if everyone was fit, and we sign these 2 forwards, would he make the bench? Probably not. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

even when used as a centre forward it's mainly as a decoy to occupy centre-backs with the threat of his pace to allow the 10s to make hay. he'll make the bench as he's a different option and can occupy several roles, edwards may be the one most likely to miss out.
