Hirst's movement. 18:09 - Jan 22 with 2580 viewscbower

What a pity his shot just went the wrong side of the post. Sweet connection and his movement was excellent. He also made a lovely near post run against Plymouth. Rusty of course but that movement is encouraging.

I still can't believe he missed that, puts that the right side of the post and we probably win that match 2-1 and we sit here debating which goal was better. That chance aside he looked a lot sharper yesterday than last week.

Personally I'm far from sure 6 good months in his career but managers and CEO's fall on their swords as you say time will tell

I thought Hirst's shot was excellent, clever pull off the defender anticipating the ball coming in, then a really clean controlled first time strike with balance and composure keeping it low and very nearly on target. How often do those get blazed over the top? If that is a sign of things to come he's capable of doing the business.

Not sure you can call it excellent when he's failed to hit the target from 10 yards. An excellent shot would have gone in. Good technique to keep it down and hit it with pace but you've got to hit the target from there as a striker.

I don't think you have to hit the target from there as a striker, left or right by a few inches is largely a matter of luck, as long as he is making the right movement and controling the shot the goals will come.

I disagree. You can admire the movement but as a striker, 10 yards out and not under massive pressure you really ought to be hitting the target. Keeper makes a good save, that's fair enough, but you won't convince me that missing the target in that scenario constituted an excellent shot.

That was all he did all game though. Ladapo was better when he came on. Hirst needs to improve which I'm sure he will

He took it first time, which is a sign of confidence. And I'm quite sure that's why Chaplin scores with regularity..He should of arguably hit the target, though..He won't score loads, because he won't play 90 minutes game in game out. He'll get 2 or 3 chances at most per match, (60 mins as a starter or 30 mins as a finisher)Just like all the other forwards we've had under KM. If he can't convert 1 in 3, he'll struggle. That's just fact....Im hoping we play well on Tuesday and both Hurst and Broadhead get of the mark..

I'm probably looking too much into it but I was refreshed to see a striker actually drop into that spot where we cross the ball so often

The amount of times we pick that pass and nobody is there, is absolutely amazing, you'd think they rehearse that move in training but he was naturally straight in there and struck it well, just a shame it was the wrong side of the post

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I thought he was largely anonymous for most of the game.
Would have preferred the physical presence and work rate of Ladapo to be honest.

Im in agreement...Although, Hirst looks to have more speed/acceleration than Freddy so maybe he'll be getting across his man a bit quicker and finding space in the box/ near post....we'll see.

I've already seen enough of Hirst to see he's a step up from any other forward at the club. Once he's up to speed with the team he'll definitely get his share of goals. Should get a run of full games though, not 30,60 minutes.

Good goal, or indeed indifferent goal would be a better outcome from Dele Hirst - who still hasn’t got a goal or assist all season

The way he did it reminded me of the former Arsenal striker, Nwan kwo Kanu.
