Tuesday evening, the dry cough began. Negative test. Wednesday morning, headache, hacking cough, razor blade in the throat and temperature. Negative test. Thursday morning, felt like sh1t plus the above. Positive test. Yesterday, very tired but otherwise feeling much better. This morning, just like a cold. Negative test. Will continue to isolate for the next few days and test again tomorrow morning but is this more the normal scenario now due to the vaccine for people who are not in the vulnerable groups? Had the virus a couple of years back and had symptoms for a few weeks and was proper poorly. Are the testing kits not as adept at picking up the new strain? I haven’t had the 2nd booster yet and how long will it be before I can get one now I’ve had Covid again?
We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub.
Can't think why anyone would downvote you for your post tho - maybe fat fingers?
Thanks. I’m feeling fine now apart from being a bit bunged up. As for the downvote, I’ve no idea as I’m genuinely curious as to why I only seem to have been positive for a couple of days.

Could be an iffy batch of testing kit or a relatively low viral load. Your reliability mileage can vary with those.
As for your downvoter, he has occasional history of right wing hot takes.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
Start taking 5000iu of vitamin D3 with 200ug of vitamin K2, I wouldn't even bother now with the booster, the research is now out there for all to see..
Plenty of choices on Amazon, not expensive at all..
(PM me if you want the product i use, but there are many brands of these two together out there to choose from now)

Thanks. Could be an explanation for the false negatives then. We have another box of test kits that Mrs SSB uses for her work so I’ll try one of those tomorrow.

I’ll take my chances with the vaccine thanks all the same. Also, I already take vitamin D supplements.

Perhaps they didn't like the fact that he hadn't had his 2nd booster.
To be honest, I should have had the second booster in December so I don’t have any complaints but then that is entirely my fault. Had every intention of going to get it in the next few weeks. Maybe they would like to clarify?

I'm happy now to trust the word of John Campbell, the papers are out there with the latest research..
Can you please post peer reviewed papers showing that vitamins are as good as the vaccine with regards to protection from death.
As for Dr Campbell, the YouTube nurse was misguided during the core of the pandemic and agenda driven since it. Just trusting the word of a nurse with regards to virology is an appeal to authority fallacy amongst numerous others.

I look forward to seeing the papers.

And with 2.66 million subscribers, "Dr" Campbell must be coining it in.

That's not really fair at all. Dr Campbell presents evidence and sources for his opinions, he doesn't derive them from his own qualifications. That's equivalent to you presenting some good evidence and someone saying you're wrong because you're just a bloke on a message board.

We will have to disagree on this one. I think he cherry picks evidence to support a narrative he has created which plays well with his subscribers.
His conclusions from the "data" are dubious but that's just my opinion.
As I said, I look forward to seeing the peer reviewed papers.

I remember watching one of his videos early on on the suggestions of a friend.
He comes across as authoritative, as well as avuncular, but I didn't like the conclusions he drew from some of the data, so was suspicious and never watched him again.
For what it is worth, I like to draw my own conclusions, and base them on scientists who have expertise in the areas of respiratory viruses and vaccinations.
You said there were peer reviewed papers that showed vitamins are as good as the vaccine at preventing death.
Why won't you post them?
Watching a video isn't evidence, I don't like him at all but will try and watch later.
Now please post the papers you referenced.
SB
He provides links to his sources in all of his videos, a lot of the studies he links are peer reviewed. I don't know if this one is or not I haven't watched this video. Yes it's possible that Campbell has an agenda and it's healthy to be sceptical of anyone and everyone and not just from Youtubers like him but even what you might consider 'trusted sources'.
Please just watch it, have an open mind even if you don't like him..
I'm leaving it here, for what it's worth I respect your views on many things on here, I know you certainly know your stuff..
As I said, when I get time I'll watch the whole thing.
I've just watched the first minute and he's provided two figures (neither I have checked to the source):
"Probable" 72% effectiveness at stopping A&E admission "Probable" 51% effectiveness at preventing death
Both of these numbers are substantially lower than the estimated protection provided by the vaccines. So I think your original post was a bit off recommending vitamin D rather than taking a booster.
