I thought it was Fujitsu? There was a question raised on it in the Lords a few days ago https://hansard.parliament.uk/Lords/2023-04-19/debates/DD4C1D09-88A7-4B2E-82BC-9 Not that Infosys can't also be involved of course.

The one thing that's certain is that this was likely to involve some level of corruption/nepotism, as that's what they do.

Lord Patrick Cormack gets it right (he after all campaign for justice for the victims of the Post Office scandal arising from Fujitsu's flawed PO software):

"It is completely wrong–I would say immoral–for any department of government to pay money to a company [Fujitsu] whose actions, carelessness and downright stupidity in some respects have led to the deaths of British subjects, to the incarceration of others and to the misery of many."

PS. agreed, F**K THE TORIES. This version of anyway. Neither Fujitsu's nor Infosys' involvement is a good look here, however much each is involved. It's either utterly corrupt or utterly incompetent (and a bit corrupt). Or both!

PPS. Seems that the claim is that Fujitsu sub-contracted to Infosys. It would be a good way to hide the channeling of money to Infosys, but no proof yet.

PPPS. So it looks very much like Everbridge had a major roll in the development - Fujitsu (Infosys) more in the roll out presumably, given their contract was only awarded last year. Still no hard evidence Infosys are actually involved though.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

....it was developed by Everbridge:

"The system has been built by Everbridge, a Boston-based company that already operates similar alerts in Estonia, Spain, Germany, Norway and Denmark."

Of course, it is The Guardian, so may well be a load of balls.

I can confirm it is by Everbridge, I used to work for them out of their Colchester office.

Government corruption and nepotism shouldn't really be a surprise any more. But I did hope it might have ended with Johnson going. Stupid of me to imagine such a thing. It is endemic in the party. EDIT: Reading above, hopefully Pye is wrong.

Interesting article, although with it being by the technology editor that doesn't mean that that the business angle could be funding from Fujitsu for Everbridge. Cross holdings can be a source of confusion even for those who work in the finance and company secretarial departments of the corporations with those shareholdings...

What I did find useful was the German and Japanese approaches of eschewing mobile technology and going for solutions that reach everybody (well, apart from the profoundly deaf.)

According to Wikipedia, Jonathan Pie is a fictional comedic character portrayed by British comedian Tom Walker.

Maybe this is just proof of the saying "A lie is halfway round the world before the truth has got its boots on."

He has after all got tickets to sell for his upcoming tour.

I was one of those who didn't get the message, aren't the government trying to find out why it didn't work for a lot of people?

My company use Everbridge for our emergency notifications for staff. I wrote the data feed interface for it.
