Yes, remember after we lost 6.1 or something similar to Charlton and then won our first five games of the season!

We've split the squad into two so they all get some game time. On paper the teams should win too but I doubt that was the main objective. Put a shift in but don't get injured.

Exactly. If you are worried about the result quite simply you don't play two games in a day. I mean that couldn't be any more obvious.

Have we gone out and tried not to win. No of course not. We'l still learn some things. But fundamentally today was much more about two big fitness sessions. Preston was more of a 'lets see where we are'. Luton will be the same.

We won’t be drawing any conclusions from a trot out against Cambridge. Judy just we wouldn’t against Preston

Two games in a day following a game just 3 days ago. Legs will be extremely heavy today. Very much a stamina exercise today isn't it and get those legs ready for the real thing.

On a positive note, I do feel it’s good to keep the squad grounded as you sometimes worry that if pre-season goes too well then the squad can get ahead of themselves and potentially lose focus; especially after the end we had to last season.

All in all it serves as a good reminder that there’s still lots of hard work to be done and that we can’t just expect to steamroll every team in our path. Glad we’ve learnt that and not had to forfeit any points as a consequence. Although I’m confident that McKenna and the coaching staff will have had this in hand regardless of today.

What the hell has happened to you. You are starting to talk far too much sense. I don't know how comfortable I am with this! ;)

If they were not friendlies, I would feel disgusted with those two results. But as they are just friendlies, I shall not be losing any sleep.

Two games in a day would be a real test for players...if it was the same players in each game...

I appreciate that. But I just meant that players involved across the games all had minutes only a couple days ago following an intense pre season programme. It's In no way close to the levels of organisation or sports science. But even when I would speak to coaches at non league level during pre season one particular coach who is now managing at step 3 used to explain his methods during pre season which was all around the muscle growth and thickness of tendens and stuff. Way over my head.. but pre season was more than just playing games they had 6 months of football in their heads and getting the body ready for what's ahead in a physical way.

No one likes to lose but several senior players spent minutes out of position , KM thinks that is important for their development plus quite a few younger players getting game time was of course more important than the results .

There seems to be loads flouncing over the odd flouncer. Yes I've seen someone going completely over the top because we're apparently going to be taken apart in the Championship because of those losses..... but there seems to be a ratio of 20:1 all waiting like coiled springs to denounce the bed-wetters. But... where are they? Twitter? Facebook? TT? Seems like I'm tripping over posts about bed-wetters, but can hardly find many posts who are genuinely going OTT.

PS: Think it's reasonable to discuss we need another CB. Sure the club are working on it irrespective of these results.
