Team for tomorr… later today 04:58 - Sep 23 with 2376 views | pointofblue | Can’t sleep so may as well take a punt. I’ll guess at: Hladky - Clarke, Williams, Woolfenden, Burgess - Morsy, Luongo - Hutchinson, Chaplin, Broadhead - Hirst Substitutes: Slicker, Davis, Ball, Evans, Taylor, Burns, Jackson, Scarlett, Ladapo After his performance in midweek, Hutchinson retains his place but switches to the right, allowing Burns a break to get over the niggle he’s got. Luongo returns in the place of Taylor. Davis and Jackson return to the bench in place of Humphreys and Harness, unless either are deemed not to be match fit.

Team for tomorr… later today on 06:05 - Sep 23 with 2273 views | franz_tyson | It's been mentioned before but why do we have so many CM's on the bench and no back up CB? I just can't see all of Ball, Evans and Taylor being used in a game. We even had a fourth CM in Humphreys on the bench on Tuesday. And it's highly unlikely Sam Morsy gets subbed unless its an injury.

We'd probably find out why if morsy ever went off injured. Maybe it's evans who mckenna prefers as his replacement. I'd guess taylor and luongo are going to spend the season replacing each other. Taylor can also replace chaplin as the attacking midfielder. Looks like ball now effectively covers both full back positions as well as emergency centre-back. I suspect donacien may take ball's place on the bench when fit as he covers the same positions.

Possibly reflects KM’s wish to take the game to opponents. Baggott’s the one who could possibly feel hard done by, but Ball can cover CB in the event of injury and it’s rare out tactical subs include the CBs. With our energy we need options to replace the fullbacks and the front players who do so much running pressing from the front.

Ball cam cover CB and RB as well, Humphreys can cover LB. McKenna likes bench options that are versatile as well as those who can potentially change a game. It's why Jackson is nailed on to be on the bench when fit ahead of the likes of Harness and Aluko, he can cover multiple roles depending on what we need in the game at the time. A CB on the bench can cover CB and that's pretty much it. They might spend 46 games on the bench without ever coming on as you rarely take a CB off.

If Woolfenden or Burgess ever got forced off / sent off then we could see Clarke move into the centre. We then have various options to cover RB. We should know by now McKenna will have trained for any scenario and everyone will already know what their roles will be.

Donacien coming in I can agree on, but I think he'll replace Evans. I think Ball is possibly that bit extra versatile. With Tuanzebe reaching (hopefully) match fitness, it will be interesting if McK will stick with the no CB bench option. Could be very harsh to see either Burgess or Woolf out of the 18 if Tuanzebe is deemed a starter.

Agree. Fittest man in the squad. No need to rest him unless he's injured. Also crucial to how we play. Hutchinson taking his place would mean a tactical change. Jackson less so.
