Dilemma - rock or football ? 16:37 - Oct 5 with 1735 viewsWeWereZombies

There is a one day festival in Glasgow on Saturday called 'Tenement Trail', thirty three quid for loads of bands in a host of venues, but it make it worthwhile (not just the ticket cost but thirteen hours on a Citylink coach, a couple of nights in the city centre...and I can't bulk up the weekend with a visit to Paisley to watch St Mirren play Rangers because you either need to be a season ticket holder or to have been a home supporter for two other games to get a ticket) by packing in as much as I can in the afternoon or do I carry on watching the rain fall down here but get a Matchday pass to watch the Preston game - which might be a borefest if they park the, errr, Brutalist bus station ?

Go to the gigs and watch the football on your phone?

But find a better way to travel.

If it's a band I am not familiar with (and the only one on the bill I have seen is Walt Disco and this applies to them as well) I want to give them my full attention, the way Town are playing at the moment I also want to give them my full attention (even if it is a borefest) so I don't think I can do both at the same time. Also, watching on the Chromebook is low key enough, watching on a phone (and paying a tenner to do so) with half an eye on a stage would be too imperfect.

As far as the coach goes, I like it, better than grumbling away at Campervans lumbering up the road on the five or so hour drive down. I can read my book, put the headphones in and listen to a download whilst I watch the scenery (which will need a bit of wet weather appreciation.) On the downside, even if the coach gets into Fort William on time tomorrow lunchtime it is a desperate dash into Morrisons Café and hope that I get served my £6.99 fish and chips in time to make the thirty five minutes before the journey resumes possible, whereas if I drive I can take my time. Then again it costs over four hundred miles of car travel (which even at my frugal running costs is around a hundred and fifty quid whereas the coach costs me nothing - or a quid if I make a reservation because, hey, I'm a big spender and I do.) But, once again, by car I could set off early on Saturday morning and save a night's accommodation. Oh, hang on, finding somewhere to park...

Sounds like you won't get the opportunity to see this festival thing again this season. But you can watch Town in the league another 35 times. Town without a question. 35 times isn't nearly enough. Imagine what you'll be like in the summer.

Does my attendance mean a mass exodus of the Portman Road faithful?

At least the my chum and I will get decent service for our half-time Bovril.

Blimey.

Just Badger and Stokie to tick off the list this season then.

Good luck getting a signal at a festival to watch the game. I tried to watch the Sheff Wed Game when at Radio 2 in the Park and it was impossible.

I've decided to stay home and watch the match on TownTV...and you could be right, somewhere as remote as The Barrowlands Ballroom might have no mobile signal...now all that needs to happen is for us to get our first autumn equinoctals (which seemed to start before summer was over this year) power outage at two thirty on Saturday...

Do the festival.. you can watch the Town game on replay at a later point, can't you? Will still be as enjoyable as watching it live if it's anything like the game v Hull on Tuesday... that way you get to soak up both.

See above, and the forecast for Glasgow tomorrow is atrocious, couple of inches of rain with no let up. No fun slushing around between venues getting soaked. I quite enjoy the live experience from TownTV, too, just have to remember to log on early enough to see Ed pulling pints this time - or will he surprise us and be laying out the kit in the changing room this time ?

I know I shouldn't be such a boring old fart but I am that boring that when I got a text earlier to book Covid-19 and flu vaccinations I did so within a few hours and now won't go out much so that I can be sure of attending the health centre next Wednesday.
