Far better than to actually address the fundamental issues of the failure of the British justice system to actually hold the right people to account.
And for the record - any of those witnesses can lie with impunity as we don't have an enforceable duty of candour for public servants at public inquiries. Just like the South Yorks Police - they can lie, lie and lie again without any fear of prosecution for misleading a public inquiry.
That people actually died is neither here nor there, they have reputations to protect and god forbid they should be honest about the mistakes they made...

Have they found themselves a sacrificial lamb?

We the public should be paying for political heads from 2000 onwards. All in all it is going to cost you and eye 1 billion quid. Shocking when we knew it was wrong all along.
Really terrible what those postmasters were put through. Disgusting what the Post Office did to cover up the failings of that Horizon software knowing it had problems but denying it, whilst still convicting people, utterly dreadful. Really hope justice is served.

When I heard the inquiry was back on today I did think - wonder who the poor b@astard is who's on first. And the lucky sod who went last.
No doubt the world's media will be on this now (which is good) - but god knows how long before they make their report / give their findings.
Justice never happens fast does it. The PO stopped prosecutions in 2015 - and in 8 years how many people have been held to account?
The Law and Justice is slow. 4 years ago Donald Trump tried to lead a coup and law men defended their capital from a mob he created. Only now are their courts acting from what was the USAs first coup attempt.

It wasn't really a genuine, credible coup attempt. It was an insurrection ie drunken idiots turning up in the capital.
A genuine coup attempt needs military support, infrastructure and telecoms blackouts, road blocks and months of planning for every plausible detail and scenario.
There is a tremendous difference.
This video is long but actually incredibly interesting and entertaining:
