Travis already playing a Captain's role 17:48 - Jan 13 with 2034 viewsGlasgowBlue

Combative, demanding the ball and talking to the players.

He’s made a couple of tackles - impressive so far. Also liked that he’s got the streetwise-ness that his Championship experience brings - preventing a quick Sunderland throw early on.

Looks a little quicker than Morsy but does he have Sam's ability to turn n a sixpence and release the ball.

Big deal. That’s 101. Not in the same league as Morsy and very noticeable too. His angles are off as his body shape to protect the ball compared to Morsy. Big shoes to fill but Morsy doesn’t s evidently a cut above.

I think Morsy is a cut above every midfielder in the league when you look at everything he gives you.

Some obvious names with more quality and talent but bloody hell he's good. No surprise we miss him hugely.

Agree massively - Morsey is irreplaceable - best signing in the last decade easily for me - maybe even further back than that - he has so many attributes that are a level above

Nothing like writing a player off after just 30 minutes of football.

I didn’t write him off, he can do a job, I’m just giving you my opinion to say I disagree with you. It’s difficult for him but it’s evident how less fluid we are in transition with him in the side compared to Morsy. No surprise but even if he had ten games and more time, Morsy snd Luongo are better. Don’t see how what he’s done so far is a “captain’s role”. He’s a ball winning midfielder so you’d expect to see that. He’s hardly commanded the midfield or dictated the tempo. That’s what a real captain does.

It's his first game and I think he's played extremely well. He's making good tackles, making himself available for the ball and encouraging players around him.

Were you at Accrington in 2021 for Morsy's debut? Everyone there was wondering what all the fuss was about.

That's a massive hot take after 45 mins. He's more mobile than Morsy. Not as strong but has the same combative nature. Done well.

Agreed. Similar to when Ball played. Ball played well but he's not Morsy and plays a different well. That can effective team flow but it's not on the player it's just an adjustment. Travis looks somewhere in between the two. All 3 are actually good players. Travis looks nice and agile and dynamic

And i told you that’s 101 for a ball winning midfielder, nothing captain worthy of note. “Talking to players”. Lordy. What a pro! You made my div list. It’s been coming for a while but you’re not at the level of football chat required to make these exchanges worthwhile.
