He’s definitely going to be in the keeper’s field of vision and would have affected his decision making but I’m ignorant of the rule. Is that enough or should he have been directly in line for it to have been offside?

Not sure which way round it was - if the ref asked the linesman first whether he was offside as, if so, he was interfering with play. | |
