I think the conditions coupled with a lot of players having travelled and played international matches earlier in the week and a Friday match all contributed. The very inconsistent refereeing didn't help either. Setting a benchmark with booking Davis in the second minute and then repeatedly resetting the benchmark with every other foul players didn't know whether it was a contact sport or not. Fortunately the rub of the major decisions fell our way in the end. |  |

Was thinking it explained the key players Moore and Al Hamadi (but then he didn't go did he?) Sarmiento looked poor. I don't think Broadhead was likely to be as affected as he didn't play. Burgess was unavailable due to it. Our defence never looks as assured without him. | |

Forgot about Sarmiento being on internal duty too, which is odd as I commented on a thread about it earlier in the week.
I thought the centre of the defence was our most assured area, and they deserve extra credit considering they had very little support from anyone else. Can see why Chaplin got Man of the Match from Sky, but personally would have given it to Edmundson or Woolfenden. | |

Only Morsy looked on it for me, last 30 mins were horrible, very surprised Harness and Taylor didn’t get on as our press was dire and we desperately needed someone else centrally. |  |

As a team we kept conceding possession and Morsy and Luongo had to regain it far more often than normal. That said, we played it through the middle more often than normal. Davis being unwell will have contributed to that as did Hutchinson moving centrally. Ultimately we did enough to get the points but it wasn't a pretty performance. Hladky summed it up with being caught in possession but then recovering to get a foot in and make a fantastic save with the back of his hand! | |
