How many times will we break our existing transfer record this summer? 13:25 - Jun 3 with 2332 viewsVic

Illie's comment in joe's thread got me wondering about this.

I wouldn't be surprised to see 7 or even 8 players coming in over Sereni's fee (circa £4.5m). You just get much for less than £5m these days and given we're looking for signings to be upgrades I can't see us signing many for less than that.

We'll sign 5+ players for £5m or more, I guess how many times we break our record will depend on what order we sign them. If Omari joins next week for the thick end of £20m, we'll probably only break our transfer record once.

You reckon? I'm working on us spending £80m plus as I suspect it took that level of backing to get KM to sign on the dotted line.

I'm thinking Omari for £20m leaves £60m. Then 2x at £10m leaves £40m. Then 8x at £5m.

Should have spanked £85m on that on a signing on fee for Mbappe.

So if Omari is signed first, then the record is only broken once.

We might sign 11 players but no way we’ll sign 11 players for over 5m. There will be a couple of loans and a couple of free transfers/cheap punts surely

But once we sign Omari, our existing transfer record will be whatever we paid for him. I reckon 5+ signings above our current record, but record to only be broken once or twice.

At least once when we have to offer McKenna another contract extension.

Seriously though, I think our first signing will be the big one. Omari!

I think he just meant, how many signings over £5m will we make.
