If you want entertainment on a Thursday evening head to Foxhall Stadium.

A right thrashing of Leicester Lions last night, everyone scoring well, good racing, a top of the league team that is getting better with every meeting.

Lovely stuff.

Keep meaning to go, but daughter's sporting commitments getting in the way.

Sayfutdinov is class, as is Doyle - or at least he was until he got injured.

The Witches are having a great season - but speedway in the UK is very strange and a sport that lurches from one ridiculous episode to the next.

When ITFC are good, so are the Witches. In fact, I'm sure around the end of the 90's, they were the best team in the world.

But you really have to savour these moments in speedway. As said above, you can go from world beaters one year to nothing the next due to quotas, regulations etc that I don't particularly understand as a layman.

Part of the 90s were certainly good, particularly when we had Rickardsson, Gollob, Louis and Nicholls in the same team.....but I prefer the mid 70s, when we were undoubtedly the best club side in the world.

As you say, that also coincided with a great period for Town so there certainly appears to be some correlation.

As to the overall management of the sport, I have never known a sport like it to shoot itself in the foot on so many occasions....but when it all comes right it's great to watch.

You wouldn't think it would be so hard to arrange race with four competitors in a race, and then extend that into a match and season.

I don't understand what they mean when they say his "paid' score.

If you finish either a) third, immediately behind your team mate, or b) second, immediately behind your team mate, you get a bonus point that doesn't count towards the team score.

Therefore if you score 6 points and pick up 2 bonus points during the meeting you get "6 points, paid 8". I think this refers to you being literally paid for how many paid points you score, but they may have changed since I last went.

The reason being to prevent them racing against their own team mate in order to get more money and end up crashing out/taking each other out, I believe.
