“Ipswich still the favourites” for Philogene 23:03 - Jul 11 with 3740 viewsRobbie12345

According to Baz Cooper, from the Hull Daily Mail, on the Hull ‘The 1904 Club’ podcast, posted around 9pm this evening

Also, Pete O’Rourke, from Football Insider, wrote an article at 2:05pm stating Greaves is set to be officially confirmed “within 24 hours”. Lets see how good his sources are…

Problem I now find with it is rumours are circulating that diaby is leaving Villa for Saudi. This would explain their interest in philogene

Let them have Philogene and us take Diaby. On a more serious note Jota (former Celtic player) will be surplus to requirements at AL Ethihad. He's a good winger and would suit us and I think we would suit him.

Just watched their vlog actually. Philogene chat starts at 3 minutes in

Baz Cooper talks about Philogene here and says Town are favourites. Tbh, it really doesn't feel like it. We've had an offer accepted and if the player wanted to come you feel like he'd be here by now.

Interesting the other guy there says the EADT asked for an interview a couple of days ago because they had been given a heads up it was pretty much done

Good insight this. So if the deal was as close as they are reporting/if EADT were asking for interviews, why is philogene in Turkey????

Doesn't make any sense why you would fly out there.

Is Hull playing hardball with Villa, I.e.we will keep him rather than sell him back to Villa and they get no sell-on fee?

I suggested on another thread yesterday, maybe just to get away from the pressure/spotlight. Not just his decision any more, complex negotiations between Villa/us/Hull incorporating Greaves fee as well as his own. And he needs to train somewhere without giving unwanted/misleading ‘clues’.

Presumably Greaves hasn't been training with us or Hull since Sunday. There has to be some link between the two deals surely, or that one would be announced.

There's also some reports, apparently reliable ones, of Villa bidding for another wide player from abroad whose name escapes me. Some Villa fans seem to think that could be evidence Philogene isn't going back there.

I've come to the conclusion its futile to speculate really, we just need to sit tight and see what materialises. Whether we get Philogene or not if we land Johnson, Hutchinson, Greaves and Delap which are all expected then it's been a productive first couple of weeks of the window. Obviously JP would be great, but what will be will be innit.

Ipswich finalising two transfers
Latest from Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth, Lyall Thomas, Adrian Kajumba:

Ipswich are finalising deals for Manchester City forward Liam Delap and Hull City defender Jacob Greaves.

The deal for Delap is worth £20m with Manchester City inserting a 20 per cent sell-on while the fee for Greaves is £15m.

Formal announcements to confirm their arrivals at Portman Road are expected soon.

Initially, Ipswich were working on a double deal worth around £35m for Greaves and his Hull team-mate, winger Jaden Philogene.

But the move for Philogene now looks in doubt after Aston Villa triggered a matching rights option they had after selling the 22-year-old to Hull last summer.

Talks are continuing today in an attempt to find a solution, with Philogene’s priority being game time.

The Hull Daily Mail reports that Philogene is at Hull's pre-season camp in Riva although not training with the main group.

If game time's Philogene's priority, he knows where to come! Come on Jaden, you'll love ITFC & we'll love you :)

If correct, good news about the other two too.

That sounds like Town indirectly giving an ultimatum to Philogene (or his agent) - We're ready to move on and pay the extra for Greaves and find another winger. Fair enough, no hard feelings, good luck. Unless you want to make the commitment as of today?
