I see what you mean - ironic that for an event which is primarily about speed, the closing ceremony is happening at snail’s pace.

I'm pleased it's not just me. For a nation so hooked on 'patriotism', it seems very odd that every singer at a major event is allowed to make it all about them.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

I think Alesha Dixon tried it with GSTQ before the British GP a few years ago, and it just sounded so wrong.

I suppose the fact the Americans don't tend to sing along, gives the singer freedom to do what they want.

It got better when they went to Red Hot Chili Peppers, but then immediately got worse again when the next 'singer' appeared to not be too bothered about singing (before Dogg/Dre)

Tom Cruise abseiling down is no big deal is it ? We had Daniel Craig jumping out of a helicopter with the the Queen. Tom should have come down with Joe Biden on his back.

The 5 Olympic Rings on the Hollywood sign was a clever nice touch though.

Best rendition of a NA for me was actually at this year's opening ceremony in Paris - the statuesque lady on the roof singing the Marseillaise - spine-tingling.

Worst take-away from this year's Olympics for me - having GSTK as an ear-worm 😱
