When you add up all the poor decisions, cheating, bits of bad luck, deflections and anything else you can be hard done by, I am struggling to think of any team we are owed a bigger slice of luck against.
No doubt against many teams we've had some decisions go our way, some for the opposition but when I think about the most aggrieved I have been two Liverpool matches spring to mind.
The absolutely brilliant Phil Whelan tackle on Saunders that they got a penalty for when it was obvious to everyone but the ref he'd won the ball.
Then the Molby free kick when a foul was committed nearly 30 yards from goal and the free kick was somehow taken on the edge of the box.
Seem to recall talk of some dodgy decisions in the 70's and 80's as well when refs gave them everything.
Can't think of anyone we're owed against more. No chance now with VAR of us getting a dodgy pen! |  | | |  |

Despite what the TV replays suggested, it's clear that the Molby free kick was not given for the foul on McManaman 30 yards out, but for the foul on Saunders by Stockwell, which was right on the edge.
Not that it was a foul, mind.
But yes, the Whelan/Saunders thing was an outrage. The last-minute equaliser was sweet that night. |  | | |
