I'm pretty sure in the first half Omari was through towards goal running at a defender and had Delap to his left. 2 v 1 and somehow he kicked it against the defender and the chance was gone. Am I imagining this? Why was that not on highlights? From memory he should have ran towards the right and waited for the defender to commit and then lay in Delap. To me that was our biggest chance of the first half.

Are you thinking of the one where we broke from the edge of our box and Delap put him through? He cut inside TAA and shot low which Alisson saved fairly comfortably?
The recovery speed of Liverpool's back line was a joke. He looked away and then boom he's got about 4 players around him, and Omari's not slow.
Although I think your right in that there was another similar such incident where he was dispossessed. We caused them a few problems on the transition, a little bit better decision making in the final 3rd and we might've scored on another day. |  | | |

Oh apologies, that was a different one. The closest I can think of is one where was running from the left, and had Chaplin to his left. He took too long to play the pass, and the pass was under hit and the defender intercepted. [Post edited 19 Aug 2024 11:57]

different chance I think, on the left. Didn't quite get the angles/timing right and the attempted pass to put the other player in (not sure who - thought it might have been chappers) was intercepted.

There was a break when the pass was not quite at the right angle Omari eventually gets a shot off but if the pass through from Delap, I think, was more in Omari's stride he would have had a better run on goal . Well that's how I remember it . [Post edited 19 Aug 2024 12:06]

Whilst the pass was not the best from Delap, Omari did well to get a shot off but I do think he should have laid in Chappers. Very fine margins, just look at the passes for Liverpool's first, every pass was inch perfect.
Delap looked a real handful didn't he. Once we get Hirst and Broady back, our front finishers look good for this level in terms of pace and strength. [Post edited 19 Aug 2024 12:14]

Quite possibly yeah, if Omari had've got his body in between man and goal then Trent would've been on a sticky wicket but he had enough of an angle to get himself goal side.
The way I see it is if Omari can cause Liverpool a few problems them he can probably do similar to most at this level, which is encouraging. | | | |

I kinda sounds like this one. Just wanted to see what went wrong, because we held all the aces in this instance and we chose the wrong decision. From memories other than the keeper our 2 and a Liverpool player covering were then only ones in their half. Don't even think it was their centre halves either. Think we broke ultra quick from one of their many first half corners.

It was one of those ones where the needed a right foot; instead he had to cut inside onto his left which slowed him down, allowed the defenders to get back and cut off most shooting angles. He really needed to curl it to the keepers right instead of going low left.
We really missed having quality finishers (as in the KM's 60min cavalry) on Sat didn't we. They will come! [Post edited 19 Aug 2024 12:26]

I agree I think he looks a real handful. He was largely responsible for Liverpool's tactical switch at half time, which is a compliment in itself. Omari and Delap are exciting for sure, Szmodics will bring energy, and Burns has raw pace.
I can't help but feel we need a couple more of that ilk, perhaps our 2nd domestic loan will be just that. Broadhead and Chappers will contribute I'm sure, but remains to be seen whether they're premier league standard. | | | |

Indeed. reminded me, in a way of Taylors debut flick and run down the right wing many years ago. Never did anything of note after that. I think Delap will be better! | |

The target man was Burns quite a lot too. He gave Robertson a lot of problems. He is a bit of a monster in his prescence. We always miss him not being in the side. He tends to take 2 opponents out of the game.

Did he get tackled? From where I was sat I thought he tried to pull it back but telegraphed it straight to their defender. Thought at the time he should have been greedier and shot but may just have been my view |  |

It was the Chaplin one. Simple pass from Hutch, gives Chaplin a shot on goal with his preferred left foot, with basically just the GK to beat. Schoolboy football from Hutch, he only needed to pass it 4 feet to his left.
