I'm actually quite shocked 23:08 - Aug 30 with 2001 views | FrimleyBlue | Writing this calmly, as it's not the end of the world. And yes, very happy with the players we have signed, that doesn't change and im looking forward to seeing them develop together But I am really shocked we've spent so much yet go into the rest of this prem campaign until jan of course, with only Al Hamadi as a back up striker option. Not only that, but we've allowed Harness to leave, which whilst Im not saying he's prem quality, he was still that option off the bench who imo still offers more than a Taylor does for example. not much more, but still more. I dunno, it's a good window, ending badly for me. I see lots of posts saying who would you sign, but that's not our job, people at the club get paid alot of money to make those decisions. It is what it is, we have nothing but trust to go with in KM to make the most of what he's got overall and pray injuries are kind to us. COYB!!!

I'm actually quite shocked on 23:15 - Aug 30 with 1678 views | SouperJim | Not too concerned, we have goals throughout the team and have never relied on the central striker to get well into double figures. Delap looks like a great player and we have Hirst to come back. I'm sure we'll look again in January and who knows, Broja might actually be fit by then... Personally I'm relieved that Harness is gone. Don't rate him at this level at all, works hard off the ball but isn't much of a tackler and has very little quality in possession.

I quite like Silva. Hope he leaves them in the lurch by going to Saudi Arabia or something. They're another money club who bought their way up the divisions, and probably used it to get Nelson too. Did he string us along to sort out the best deal and not leave us any time to do anything else? My other hope is the deal falls through and he's left to rot in the Arsenal U21s until January. Bitter? Me?

Don't really understand the comparison, Harness is primarily a wide player who chases shadows and watches the game happen around him, Taylor is a center mid who at least gets stuck in and can manage a 10 yard pass occasionally.

For me, Tayls as KM spoke of is seen as more of a forward line player, albeit not a prem one, he's also not going to get in, in front of Morsy, Cajuste, Phillips, Louongo in midfield Harness at least covered any of the forward positions to a solid enough standard, kinda like the jackson cover. With Burns and Broadhead injuries, we're limited with cover in that forward line imo. I know they are due back soon, but how long until one of them is back out again? I dunno, just felt like it was the wrong player leaving without a replacement. [Post edited 30 Aug 2024 23:27]

Harness was ok as a back up in the Championship and played his part. Good player and character. But there is no chance of him being PL standard and that is what the club is clearly trying to build. Would I like to have seen another no 9? Yes. But not one with one leg who might be ok in a few months time. I’d rather have retained Moore as a back up - if he was happy with that position. And Sarmiento come to that thiugh he’s not a 9. I’d also add that if a player proposes to go to Fulham, fine. Toodloo. We don’t know what has happened behind the scenes so I’m not going to pile in on the club. We’ve decided to give it a go and signed a boatload of players, a number of them who I rate highly. Add in Hirst and AAH who many have written off but I think has something about him and we will hopefully be ok. Let’s not forget there is the January window to come and by then we will have a far better idea of where we are and what we need.

We've signed Hutchinson, Szmodics, Clarke, Cajuste and Johnson who I think can all play in the 3 positions behind the striker. We don't need Harness and personally I don't think he's contributed any real quality since we left League One. What does Harness do well?
