Netanyahu says UK shameless 13:25 - Sep 3 with 4030 viewscressi

To stop sending weapons are killing well over 40 thousand people mostly women children, it's embarrassing we all no what Hamas did was totally wrong but how many innocents do you have to kill to it becomes unacceptable.

It's a huge blunder by the UK government.

They suspended something like what, 30 out of 350 arms export licenses? Militarily very small impact on Israel, unlikely to save a single life (not that that was the stated reason anyway). A big propaganda win handed to Hamas. For what? Nothing more than a virtue-signal to the wavering left of the party. Student politics in action.

If they were really serious about the risk of war crimes being committed with British equipment (which was the given explanation) they would go the whole way and cut Israel off. If they aren't serious, it's just a pointless gesture.

Well when you consider what we do send nuts and bolts essentially and then what we buy off them it will hit our military a lot more than theirs if they cancel contracts!

I don’t think this government is the slightest bit interested in the military or the defence of this country, any more than the last shower were.

I see this as a shot across the bows. It may have minimal impact at this point in time, but they are trying to encourage Israel to change its direction of travel.

One man's virtue signal is another man's much needed international diplomacy in the face of an unbalanced 'conflict'.

In practical terms the difference between a 10% embargo and a 100% embargo is meaningless when it comes to British weapons to Israel, but I agree that it would have been better at 100%.

We don’t actually send weapons! We do send components I’ll grant you that. Conversely this might actually endanger civilians more! We send stuff for targeting pods which enables bombs to be dropped more accurately! So no pods more dumb bomb drops.

Regrettably, good targetting appears to be used to hit schools and aid trucks, rather than to avoid them.

Exactly we are trying to build pressure to get Israel to negotiate without making Hamas think they can take the pea.

USA are making noises about stopping arms and last chances, there was a general strike in Israel and we are doing our bit to try and get Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire, unfortunately he won’t as it is not what the guys keeping him in power want.

Timing goes both ways surely, could equally say UK has suspended its arms licence to Israel on the day it killed x number of civilians in Gaza, using said arms - we are now over 40,000 dead.

While I agree with you, Israel committing war crimes is not a 'risk', it's a reality, every day.

Demonstrable just by reference to west bank settlers which are increasing daily with government encouragement. How do they seriously expect progress whilst doung that?

They dont. A deal is not their aim. The aim is victory and removal iof palestinian influence or self determination. Complete annexation and ethnic cleansing as necessary.

Ffs heavy handed when thousands of women and children have been slaughtered!

Heavy handed is an embarrassing minimisation for systematic destruction of logistical, educational, medical and religious infrastructure, let alone the slaughter of thousands and continued ethnic cleansing.

This ally is creating generations of justified new terrorists and martyrs with nothing to lise and making the world more dangerous for ys all.
