Been yonks since I've been to Brighton. Would like to avoid Spoons etc. - any recommendations for a pint, perhaps something to eat, in Brighton centre before the game? Will be arriving before midday.

A few are heading to the Evening Star, 3 mins walk from the station.

Do you know if it's family friendly?

The Bulldog in St James St is a good pub

Can get busy but even when its crowded I'm sure the locals will be happy to squeeze you in

I love the "where are we all drinking" threads. It enables me to find a nice quiet pub that nobody has mentioned (usually!)

My favourite near the station is the Lord Nelson. Does a lovely drop of Harvey's Best in there. 36 Trafalgar Street. (sharp left as you come out the station and down the underpass, past the toy and dolls museum, 2nd pub down the hill on the other side of the road)

I I will likely be in the Fiddlers Elbow from early then work my way up to the station.

Unlikely. It is a very small, specialist craft beer pub. Pretty sure wet sales only.

To be honest I do similar. I didn't ask where everyone was drinking, I asked for good pub recommendations!

The first pub on the right directly after the bridge used to be pretty good too. As was The Green Dragon.

Edit...The Prince Albert looks like it might still be pretty good.

Must be an age thing, but I can’t think of anything worse than being in a pub full of town fans singing ‘we’re the tractor boys gonna make some noise’

Training in from Lewes, so if early enough we might try and find a pub nearby, if the Royal Oak is, see you there

Shame you don't fancy Spoons, was going to recommend The Red Lion or The Beehive - depending on whether you're parking N or S.

What sort of beer/food and how far might you walk?

The Windmill and Easy Tiger on Upper North Street are decent.
