Only captains approaching the referee... 16:55 - Sep 22 with 1495 viewsZx1988

I see that's gone for a Burton, then.

Why are the lawmakers so sh*t-scared of actually enforcing the rules? Particularly decent ones like this.

It was a stand out improvement from the Euros. Such a shame the FA are not forcing it into the PL. It should and needs to be done.

I don't mind Arsenal but don't exactly love them.

But you've got to wonder how Rice was given a second yellow for kicking the ball away a couple of yards to prevent a free kick in the same match where Joao Pedro wasn't given a first caution for shouting 'Have It' and kicking the ball away a good 50 yards. Arsenal down to 10 men and go on to concede and draw.

Few weeks later, Trossard stupidly kicks the ball away and gets a second yellow card but could make a very thin argument he'd not heard the whistle. Meanwhile Doku, who acknowledges a free kick to Arsenal, watches them place the ball down then goes to kick it away and again is not cautioned. Arsenal, with 10, concede and draw.

Given that we all know refs tend to let players on a yellow get away with far more, it's incredible that Arsenal have been twice punished for a rule that their opponents have got away with by the same ref in the same match. Quite ridiculous.

The same applies across the league. City get a penalty against us. Rightly so. We have a more blatant penalty denied in the same match by the same ref.

Some players are being booked for time wasting at 10 seconds. Others nothing for 20 seconds. Some players being booked for imaginary cards. Others getting away with it.

It's quite pathetic year after year that what are rules are not enforced equally by all refs across the division. Of course people interpret things differently. But when it's a black and white rule it should be applied.

You either book people for kicking the ball away or you don't. You can't be deciding which teams will be punished for the same offence as others you're not going to deal with.

With teams constantly stealing ten yards forward to take a free kick and throw in, was Doku kicking the ball away or more kicking it back where he felt the offence had taken place? Commentary suggested it was clear that the kick was being taken in the right place, but within the game Doku might have felt this had been happening down his side quite regularly

the same as the supposed arbitrary yellow for delaying a free kick by kicking the ball away, picking the ball up etc. Sometimes a ref gives yellow, sometimes not, especially if it would be a 2nd yellow. Just give a yellow EVERY time & players would then stop doing it.
