It's an interesting polemic, worth watching and then thinking about what you agree with and what you don't. And why that is the case. So I hope I will be posting again later.
Thanks for that. He's right, Starmer's government in this respect is a continuation of Sunak's, there is no "change". People are still falling for the pseudo democracy we have.
People need to understand what fascism is. The image has changed since the 40s, it no longer wears large black leather boots and goosesteps. PPPs (Public Private Partnerships) is today's fascism. The guy on the video gets it.
The governments of the globe are selling out to big business and technocrats. Public-private partnerships sound warm and cuddly but it is fascism.

got as fas as 'the far right have been lynching people' and stopped.
And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

If you want something that is better researched and presented and not just one self-proclaimed former British soldier- Joe Glenton- Born in Norwich who went AWOL- talking at you and telling you - consider a balanced peer-reviewed piece of journalism. This documentary might give more answers rather than the sound bites that are easy to swallow.

That doesn't surprise me.
you do know that the far right haven't been lynching people? or is nonsense ok if it's pushing in the right direction?

Try not to focus on that word. He means unprovoked attacks, but you know that.
so it's nonsense but it's pushing in the right direction. "Try not to focus on that word" - it's really quite an important word and shows that he's not a serious person.

It shows that certain mindsets are desperate to avoid the uncomfortable points being made by looking for something to criticise.

no it shows that if you want to avoid extreme and divisive stuff online, from the extreme right or the extreme left, you need to assess the credibility of what's said. the far right didn't lynch anyone. claiming they did makes someone a troll part of what is wrong with lots of online discussion.

The fact that your big takeaway is that, speaks volumes. No one with a brain is taking it literally, but its a way of deflecting from all the other stuff you'd rather not recognise in yourself.

'A lot of people should watch this and reflect on the message' ...not the message you got it seems.
The BBC doco ( Small Town Big riot) does investigate and comment on such online half-truth click bait you tube vids similar to this as as part of the problem/cause of the riots. No mention of such or self-awareness in this video. Not the message we should reflect on either?
Edit-I wish we could be told directly what is the message that we must reflect and comment on.

so his words aren't meant to be taken literally. he's just using the word 'lynching' to flame the discussion and push people to the extremes. which was rather my point.

Who is he trying to push to "the extremes "? There's nothing extreme in what he says.

I've watched the Panorama half hour on the Southport (and subsequent) riots now as well. That is more expansive, and more useful as it connects with people in local and national Government as well as opposition politicians of various hues and other interested parties. I wouldn't condemn the DDN video, certainly not in the manner Lowhouse has done, but it polarises working people and misses the point that a lot of them see no way of getting ahead in England. There are multiple areas of work for the new administration in such areas as providing and encouraging education that addresses the likely future needs of the country, improving the housing stock both in terms of quality and capacity, maintaining and improving the National Health Service. None of this is easy and looking for easy answers just kicks the can down the road, which has been happening for fourteen years and has a lot to do with the festering discontent.
So recommend the video by all means, it is interesting and worth a watch to see how one person feels, but for me he does not spell it out perfectly.

Isn't that what he's saying pretty much? Many white British, usually men, have no hope of a better life, but that doesn't make them hate immigrants naturally. They are fed lies by the rich and the establishment about immigrants being the cause of their woes. As the saying goes, people aren't born racist, they are taught to be racist. Akala summed it up pretty well while debating with Tommy Robinson on QT.

Wow! That last sentence!
I await Yaxley-Lennon standing for Christopher Alder.

"Throughout his investigation, Azhar meets people who have rejected “mainstream media” because they believe it lies to them – that they may often be correct about that is no comfort when we see they’ve replaced TV and newspapers with the wild rumour mills of Facebook and Telegram, where users are somehow more inclined to believe a claim the less corroborated it is."
That is the problem. Mainstream media becomes untrustworthy and all-too-frequently people then turn to whatever they want to believe due to their natural biases. I am sure we all do it too.

If somebody posted inaccurate information on death totals in Gaza, would you up vote it and double down with a post of your own?
Your penchant for Sir Paul Marshall media sources is odd if you worry about divisive online stuff. I don't mind your nonsense on climate change and economics, it at least provokes some discussion, but this seems petty.

And how has the weather been over in Stockholm today?
surely even you can condemn racist rioters without resorting to lies and nonsense in the first sentence? no?
