It rhymes with Hai ... but does that rhyme with Hi? I was more thinking is it a hard or soft t but it could also be Hay rather than Hai couldn't it?

I read KAI as in rhymes with Hi, because of the boy's name, e.g. ROOOOOOOOONEY But HAI rhymes with Hey. So I'm going KAI as in Hey. So it must be Key.............. Oh feck.

In my head, that's completely different! I must admit, I prefer that to the idea of TEY.

He said it's a Swedish pronunciation of a Haitian, therefore presumably originally French, name.

I’m probably an odd one out, but I always use the pre-colonisation Taíno version of the pronunciation, which is ‘Haitian’. I realise it’s not for everyone though.
