Anyone else looking forward to more "stress free" FA cup game? 18:34 - Jan 1 with 2188 views | Nutkins_Return | I know we've dropped the ball in cups in recent years but really looking forward to a game we can just enjoy without the high stress of the Prem games which age you? Also find myself really interested in our quality squad getting games etc in last few years. So how do we set up. (Interesting in prem with more recovery time whether he goes strong or gives more game time out e.g. Philips or Luongo for example). I'll go with: Walton Johnson Woolf Burgess Townsend Phillips Taylor Burns Chaplin Clarke Broadhead Imagine Al Hamadi if he hasn't gone out on loan. Luongo off the bench.

We don't really need the cup run but losing at home would be dismal and we could do without it. I'd go as strong as you can with some obvious changes, i'd probably even give Slicker a game. Slicker H Clarke Woolf Burgess Townsend Phillips Luongo(assuming fit, if not Taylor) Burns Chaplin Broadhead AAH Don't think you can risk Davis/Hutch/Delap.

We will definitely start the squad players & I actually wouldn't be too bothered if we lost as we might then get a plum draw, in which case McKenna could feel obliged to start a strong XI.

Id be absolutely amazed if he doesn't go on loan. I think it's like a 95% job. We know we want a striker and their won't be room in the squad for him. It's also absolutely obvious for his development he needs to go and play. McKenna said he's in a much better place with the injury now so should be able to go and start games again.

Good shout on slicker. Given we kept him around it would be a nice touch and good to see him play. I like that you said go as strong as you can and then proceeded to pretty much field a second 11 Vs who has been starting ;). We're pretty well on the same page though and agree with what you said.

You say that but almost all players in that line up, bar Luongo and Slicker, have had a good amount of minutes across the season and recently.

No argument there. I like the line up. But they have not been starters for the most part. I certainly wouldn't consider fielding a side of players who havent played good minutes. It should be a first team squad 11 for the most part. [Post edited 1 Jan 23:27]

I guess if Walton plays against Fulham then Slicker quite likely. If Muric is back in then Walton will play. Be interesting to see what McKenna does. Phil I think originally the plan was for slicker to go out on loan this season. Any word whether they might look again in Jan? He does need to play.

Yeah agreed. Going back to most players getting minutes, it again shows how good McKenna is at using his squad and keeping players involved.

I’d like to see Slicker have a run out on the FA Cup for a game or two , should we have a couple of opportunities obviously Every time I’ve seen Slicks ,which isn’t often he’s looked pretty good
