Under soil heating today 09:47 - Jan 12 with 2473 viewsWubbleU

Minor point...today will be one of the first where the under soil heating will be really tested. We would likely have been postponed without it or playing on a stodge that had been under the tent for a week.
What was the game postponed really late because of frost along one touchline? Can't remember who it was but can remember turning up and parking before it was called off.

Watford. Impression the club gave at the time was that the ref didn't really fancy it. Turned up late, took a brief look and called it off. Alan Ferguson was adamant he would have got the area sorted given a bit of time.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Was that the one where they had kettles of boiling water they were pouring on the frozen bit by the tunnel?

I didn't actually make it to the ground that day as I got a call to say it was off from Terry Baxter when I was on my way in. I think the issue then was on the other side of the ground, below the Cobbold Stand roof. Middlesbrough was that side, don't think they could have done much about it. Pitch was fine when they took the covers off, but froze thereafter and it wasn't going to get any warmer.

I'm excited to see the sprinklers turned on at half-time today, could create some lovely ice displays.

I was glad when it was abandoned - I'd forgotten to take a coat, had to go into the club shop and buy a warm top so I didn't freeze to death! Think it was abandoned after 15 mins though.

Poll: So what do we think will happen with MM and the Aston Villa job?

it was definitely nearer to half time.

It was such a stupid decision to start if its not right after 30 mins+.

Then the club made you pay (a discounted rate) for the replayed game......!

I remember this as it was my first Town game in a while after Uni. It was bloody freezing and from memory Sonko landed heavily on the frozen pitch almost injuring himself then they decided to call it off soon after that? Everyone was very p!ssed off but it really shouldn't have gone ahead at all. The pitch was clearly solid around the goal mouth.

Yeah 37th minute, don’t think it ever thawed out down that side at all, think the referee stopped it after someone landed heavily on the ground.
